Thought Provoking Topic: TEENS ONLY

I recently realized how many of my friends
at my high school say how their family
doesn't give them enough privacy, or how
they are always wanting to know what they
are doing at all times, which makes them feel
like their family is nosy. At this point, one
of my friends asked their parents to let them
have their privacy and they responded:
'As long as you live under my rules, you
have no rights, let alone privacy!"

So I have a question for my fellow teens in Christ
to answer before I put my input in:

Do teens have a right to privacy?
And-
Does any person have a right to privacy?

Good day...:)

I think, for this time, our privacy must be also known to our family, because we are not mature enough to understand things.

My parents know things about me: what is my school's activity, my friends and everything. It was that that I learned that sometimes the business I am partaking to is very risky, and I experienced a lot that if I don't listened to them, something bad happened.

I do not say that all of the things must be told. You must keep some to yourself, but if one think that there is something wrong with it, to tell it is a good choice..:)

Thanks for your experience! Sometimes
your own personal experience is better
than what opinion someone might
have formed in their mind from the outside
looking in.

  • If you look in the Bible you will not find anything that specifically says we have the right to privacy, however, we read:
  • When John the Baptist died:
    • Mat 14:13 "When Jesus heard what had happened to John, he left in a boat and went to a lonely place by himself…."
  • When we pray:
    • Mat 6:6 "When you pray, you should go into your room and close the door and pray to your Father who can not be seen"
  • Jesus spent time alone
    • Matthew 4:1 Jesus was lead into the desert and tempted
    • Matthew 26:36 Jesus prays alone
    • Luke 9:18 Jesus prays alone
  • But we also read
    • Acts 2:43-47 "…All the believers were together and shared everything…".
  • What do you think that means?
  • To me, this suggests that there is a time and a place for privacy. For many people it's a good time for:
  • Spending time with God
  • Sorting your head out
  • Taking a break
  • But we must not forget that we are supposed to live as one big 'happy family', and that means spending time with each other…
