There are 9 spiritual gifts.
Tongues are the last on the list, or the least...coming in at #9.

Its rare to find the correct teaching, regarding this gift, so, here it is...

The Gift of tongues, is the gift of a foreign language....that you can't speak, but you are given the ability to speak, by God... = so that you can deal with those who do not understand your tongue.
This would primarily be a gift given to a Missionary, in the time of the Gentiles.
You can check this out in Acts 2, when Peter was speaking in foreign languages, (tongues) and those who heard him said..>"we hear in OUR Language".
That's the "gift of Tongues".

A "prayer language", is not the gift of tongues.
Charismatics do not understand this so they teach "the infilling of the Spirit..with tongues as the sign", incorrectly as the gift of tongues, when in fact its a prayer language that the NT specifies as : "groanings that can't be uttered"..

So, if you have a prayer language, you are not "speaking in tongues", you are speaking "mysteries to god", for "self edification".

If your pastor does not understand this, then find a new Church were they do.
There is no need to keep sitting and listening to a theological boob who fakes spirituality, and is only concerned with getting your tithe and keeping you in spiritual diapers for 60 yrs.....Exactly as he or she is in their's for 60 yrs.

Paul says to pray..(seek earnestly) for the ""best GIFT", which would be the supernatural "word of knowledge" ..GIFT...., or the #1 on the list.

1Cor 13:1; Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.

Rom 8:26; Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

1Cor 14:2; For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.

Your first verse is Paul describing His particular connection to the Spirit.........This is not ours, as Paul is a "chosen vessel", and this man wrote most of the NT, and all of the Church Doctrine.
We don't have this unique Christian experience.
So, what He is describing, is coming from the pen of a Apostle, , who went to heaven after he was stoned to death and saw "mysteries".
So, you can't post that verse as if its the general experience of a Christian, as Paul's experience was unique to Paul.

Your 2nd Verse, Is talking about a prayer language, and not the #9 Spiritual Gift.

Your 3rd verse is again talking not about the #9 Gift, but only about a prayer language.

LOL I agree how many times before they come to the end of faith the salvation of one souls? Does it leak? He gets tired and needs our help ?

1 peter 1:9-11 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:

Have you searched it out brother.

My searching for salvation and eternal life ended the instant i became a "temple of the Holy Spirit".
The search is over for me as im already seated in heavenly places in Christ because as Jesus is, so are the born again in this world.
All that is left is to fight the good fight, and meet Jesus in the air for the new body and the final change.
If i dont make it, then the grave is not my end, as death is just the door that leads to the real eternal life .
