:) That is awesome Heavensound, for a 12yr old, excellent response.

The bride is Jesus' Church (us). Am I right?

Chad , I believe along with you that the CHURCH--made up of every born-again believer that has ever lived--makes up the Bride Of Christ and that we will inhabit "the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven,". Thank God for the blood-washed ones that will be pesented to Christ as His bride!!! Blessings!!!

I think its more along the line of Jesus' parable about the ten virgins, all ten were born again but only five enter in with the bridegroom. Matthew 25;1-13

Christ’s love to His church is compared to a husbands love for his wife, the church is not the Bride of Christ, it is the Body of Christ, part of the Husband in fact. Israel is to be the Lamb’s wife.

ISA 54:5 For your Maker is your husband--
the LORD Almighty is his name--
the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer;
he is called the God of all the earth.

ISA 54:6 The LORD will call you back
as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit--
a wife who married young,
only to be rejected," says your God.

ISA 54:7 "For a brief moment I abandoned you,
but with deep compassion I will bring you back.

ISA 54:8 In a surge of anger
I hid my face from you for a moment,
but with everlasting kindness
I will have compassion on you,"
says the LORD your Redeemer.

ISA 54:9 "To me this is like the days of Noah,
when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth.
So now I have sworn not to be angry with you,
never to rebuke you again.

ISA 54:10 Though the mountains be shaken
and the hills be removed,
yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken
nor my covenant of peace be removed,"
says the LORD, who has compassion on you.

When we speak of a "city" we are not talking about buildings but about the people : a group of people who will live in the buildings. The Lord will not be married to buildings (New Jerusalem) but to the church.

Eph.5:28So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. 29For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: 30For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

We are the Bride of Jesus Chirst.

The Jewish people who will believe on Him during the tribulation will be married to God our Father.

Correct answer . The angel said to john , come and I will show you the bride , the Holy city ! And inside on the four walls were the 12 tribes of Israel restored , and inside dwelled the saints of God .

"Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.".... and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God. It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. (Rev.21:9-11).

I think the city is described "as a bride" because the city is inhabited by Christ's bride, the Church, as it correlates with this passage:

Rev 19:7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
Rev 19:8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

You are probably right , but it does call the Holy City the Bride ! And is does say that all the saints will dwell inside . It is interesting to read , but I am not saying for anyone to agree with me . Brother Mike

It is pointless to argue if the Lamb's wife is Israel or the Church! The fact is it is all his people, although the symbolism is varied throught Scripture. We can not ignore Israel has a special place in the heart of God, nor can we ignore the place of the "Church" in His heart either.

Absolutly right Z ! Time to move on . In the end we will all be saved ! Thanks everyone for all you're input . Brother Mike

The Bride of Christ is all believers of Jesus, I think? so then those before Jesus time could not be the bride of Christ? any one care to shed more light on this theory??

Just food for thought.

Rev 21:21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls, each separate gate being built of one solid pearl. And the main street (the broadway) of the city was of gold as pure and translucent as glass.
Rev 21:22 I saw no temple in the city, for the Lord God Omnipotent [Himself] and the Lamb [Himself] are its temple. (AMP)

The entire city is God Almighty, and the Lamb. As it is written....

Act 17:28 for "'In him we live and move and have our being'; as even some of your own poets have said, "'For we are indeed his offspring.'

Psa 48:12 Walk about Zion, go around her, number her towers,
Psa 48:13 consider well her ramparts, go through her citadels, that you may tell the next generation
Psa 48:14 that this is God, our God forever and ever. He will guide us forever.

Thank you for what you shared. The heavenly Jerusalem is not a physical place but is spiritual, and it is comprised of believers in Jesus Christ, the church, the body of Christ, the bride of Christ. In Galatians 4:21-31 we read this:

Tell me, you who desire to be under the law, do you not listen to the law? For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by a slave woman and one by a free woman. But the son of the slave was born according to the flesh, while the son of the free woman was born through promise. Now this may be interpreted allegorically: these women are two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai, bearing children for slavery; she is Hagar. Now Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia; she corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children. But the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother. For it is written,

“Rejoice, O barren one who does not bear;
break forth and cry aloud, you who are not in labor!
For the children of the desolate one will be more
than those of the one who has a husband.”

Now you, brothers, like Isaac, are children of promise. But just as at that time he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, so also it is now. But what does the Scripture say? “Cast out the slave woman and her son, for the son of the slave woman shall not inherit with the son of the free woman.” So, brothers, we are not children of the slave but of the free woman.

Hmmm? Does the Bride consist of all believers in Jesus?

Who are then are to be the guests at the wedding supper?

"So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests." Matt 22:10

Surely they are not to consist of unbelievers? Or...?

When we all fully understand the answers to those questions, perhaps we should consider who could or can believe in Jesus. Does not Jesus say,

"...I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6

Did the shepherd body and natural King of Israel, David, never come to the Father? Who was that anointed the Word that David wrote through the Book of Psalms?

If a person prior to the natural birth of the child called Jesus in Bethlehem, believed in the Way (God's Way), and believed in the Truth (God's Truth) and believed in the Life (God's Life), would not such a person be a believer in Jesus without even knowing that the Messiah's name was to be Jesus?

Consider these words penned by the Apostle Paul in connection with these questions:

"For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:

Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness..." Rom 2:14-15

What did Job know of the Resurrection when he said, "And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:" Job 19:26 ?

And yet, Jesus also said, "I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:" John 11:25

Give God the glory my friend and keep waiting on our Lord... even when we do not know all of the answers
