Is this popular statement true or false?

"No sin you confess will make Me love you less - Jesus"

Who voted "NO"?

God cannot love us any more or less than He does right now, and there is nothing we can do that can change that...even unbelievers. It's just that unbelievers cannot partake in the rewarding relationship that believers have as His children, as part of His forever family and all the many blessings and much favour He bestows on His own. Unbelievers are loved, but they have yet to enter in to the family of God. They are still up for adoption!

Romans 8
Nothing Can Separate Us from God’s Love

31 What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? 32 Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? 33 Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself. 34 Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.

35 Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? 36 (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”[a]) 37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[b]neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I didn't vote, but God does love everyone. I just think could he love someone who is guilty of blasphemy? That is the unforgivable sin.

could he love someone who is guilty of blasphemy?

Blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven. To blaspheme pretty much means to disrespect, dishonor, or speak irreverently of something or someone. To blaspheme the Holy Ghost is quite specifically mentioned as the unforgivable sin, and Jesus also tells us other blasphemies will be forgiven. Even still I wonder if one "in danger" is still able to repent. Grace is much bigger than sin, and who is any human (especially myself) to assume they understand the ways of God? His ways are not as our ways. How then, would we know what God himself is capable of? I hope this helps, and God bless!

Matthew 12:31 ¶ Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
Mark 3:28 Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: 29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:
Luke 12:8 Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God: 9 But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.10 And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.

Revelation 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

Greetings,

I think this should have some more input.
Chad's original question
True or False?
Is this popular statement true or false?

"No sin you confess will make Me love you less - Jesus"
is quite simple yet there is a lot to it and perhaps we could all be encouraged by each other in answers we give?
Some of the answers so far have brought out something that we might see regarding God and/or Jesus.

I don't know if the question is actually from a translation of Scripture but perhaps it gives summary to Who He is ?

Bless you ....><>

" He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love." I John 4:8

But along with those words are these:

"As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated." Rom 9:13

Speaking of Jacob is speaking of the "new man" whereas speaking of Esau is speaking of the "old man".

Eph 4:21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:
Eph 4:22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
Eph 4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
Eph 4:24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

After the sin in the Garden of Eden, all men were dead. There was no "new man" until Jesus paid the price of sin, but everyone on the outside who remains on the outside will remain dead as Esau remained dead:

Heb 12:16 Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.
Heb 12:17 For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.

All of us born of woman [and who among us today is not?] has a flicker of life [the candle of the Lord] but it is in God's eyes insufficient unless it is properly fed and nourished into the real Life which Jesus is:

"For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath." Matt 13:12

So then those who have nothing left of God [losing even the flicker] in the end of the matter along with Esau have not even God's Love. They are forgotten...

Ecc 9:5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
Ecc 9:6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.

Not sure about confessing sins making God love you more or less.
But keeping the commandments?

John 14:21; He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him.”

John 15:10; If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love

What about those who don't keep His commandments? Do they still abide in His love?

1 John 5:3; For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.

But I think this is really the wrong question. God loves us. He loves us even when we sin.
But the love of God is not the salvation of God. God loves even the unbelievers and sinners. ( Rom 5:8; )
But just because He loves them doesn't mean they are saved.

So it's possible nothing can separate them from the love of God. ( Rom 8:39; ) I do notice sin isn't on that list.

Isa 59:2; But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God,
And your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear.

But even if nothing separates people from His love. That doesn't mean nothing separates them from salvation.

Hmm God is love so even the wicked he separates from the righteous because he loves His creation so much He doesnt want those that dont get along with each other together...its like a parent that has two children who fight each other well what do you do, the first thing is to separate them, and God knows who is right and who is wrong. And he puts a chasm in between so one cannot cross to the other. God is always on the righteous side right? He upholds righteousness and punishes the wicked.

But say the wicked or wrong one confesses they are wrong to Jesus then there's a way to reconcilation. God sent His son to save, so all will be saved He doesnt want anyone to perish. But they must go through Jesus.

"No sin you confess will make Me love you less - Jesus"
I lived a life of self for most of my life. My sins are so many. So many people hurt along the way. When i began to follow Jesus i still did most of the stuff i did before. But something was different. I was reading my Bible (best friend) a lot and I knew of Paul and his story,Moses and his anger, David and his pride, Solomon and his moral failure, not to mention Thomas and all of his doubt, and so many others. Over the years more and more sins that I use to live in are not a problem any more. All because of the Awesome Grace and mercy of God. There is hope for anyone and forgiveness and REDEMPTION for all. PRAISE GOD!

1 John 1:9

The more we confess to God on the things we do wrong the more He can forgive us and help us to do things right. If we dont confess to Him then we will keep doing things the wrong way, right?
