Jesus answered them and said, "My doctrine is not Mine, but His who sent Me. "If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or [whether] I speak on My own [authority]. John 7:16-17 NKJV
For the three years of Jesus’ earthly ministry, He spent His time ministering to the sick, the crippled, the hungry, and those weighed down by sin. But He also comforted and challenged those He encountered with some amazing, life-changing teaching.
Today, even those who embrace the “secular” Jesus acknowledge that He was a historically great teacher who offered great wisdom concerning how people should treat and relate to others. Jesus was indeed a great teacher, but He was so much more than that. He was the very Son of God, and His ability to speak life-changing words into the lives of His followers proved it.
In the above scripture passage, Jesus stated that all of His teaching—every word of it—was straight from the mouth and heart of the God who had sent Him to earth in the first place—not as a result of His own learning or credentials.
You can trust Jesus’ wisdom and teaching because of where it comes from.
Prayer: Father in heaven, I thank You for giving Jesus the words to say as He imparted teaching and wisdom to those who would listen to Him. With Your help I will apply everything He said to my own life.
