Recent polls have revealed startling facts about the giving/tithing habits of American churchgoers. One poll found that Christians give at only 2.5 percent per capita, a rate worse than during the Great Depression.
Something is clearly amiss!
In the Bible, God commands His followers to give generously and has also promised blessings on those who obey this command.
If you think about it, you just might find that your reluctance to give toward God's work here on this earth has less to do with simple selfishness and much more to do with your lack of trust in Him to provide what you need to care for yourself and your family.
If I give 10 percent or more of my income, you might think, then how am I going to pay the mortgage, the car payment, the power bill…? The Bible teaches that's backward thinking. God promises that when you give, you put yourself in a position to received blessings from above.
Prayer: Father, forgive me for my lack of generosity. Even more, forgive me for not trusting You enough to give out of what You've given me.
