Unpardonable sin / unforgivable sin.

The case of the "unpardonable sin / unforgivable sin" or "blasphemy of the Holy Spirit" in the New Testament is mentioned in Mark 3:22-30 and Matthew 12:22-32. The term “blasphemy” may be generally defined as "defiant irreverence." We would apply the term to such sins as cursing God or willfully degrading things relating to Him. It is also attributing some evil to God, or denying Him some good that we should attribute to Him. This case of blasphemy, however, is a specific one, called "the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit" in Matthew 12:31. In this passage the Pharisees, having witnessed irrefutable proof that Jesus was working miracles in the power of the Holy Spirit, claimed instead that He was possessed by the demon "Beelzebub" (Matthew 12:24). In Mark 3:30, Jesus is very specific about what exactly they did to commit "the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit."

This blasphemy then has to do with accusing Jesus Christ (in person, on earth) of being demon-possessed. There are other ways to blaspheme the Holy Spirit (such as lying to Him, as in the case of Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5:1-10), but the accusation against Jesus was the blasphemy that was unpardonable. This unpardonable sin against the Holy Spirit cannot be duplicated today because Jesus Christ is not on earth but is seated at the right hand of God.

The only unpardonable sin today is that of continued unbelief. There is no pardon for a person who dies in unbelief. John 3:16 tells us, "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have eternal life." The only condition where someone would have no forgiveness is if he/she is not among the "whoever believes in Him." Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). To reject the only means of salvation is to condemn oneself to an eternity in hell because to reject the only pardon is, obviously, unpardonable.

Many people fear they have committed some sin that God cannot and will not forgive, and they feel there is no hope for them, no matter what they do. Satan would like nothing better than to keep us laboring under this misunderstanding. The truth is that if a person has this fear, he/she needs only to come before God, confess that sin, repent of it, and accept God’s promise of forgiveness. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). This verse assures us that God is ready to forgive any sin, no matter how heinous, if we come to Him in repentance. If you are suffering under a load of guilt today, God is waiting with His arms open in love and compassion for you to come to Him. He will never disappoint or fail to pardon those who do.

We heard this very verse spoken on last Lord's Day in Church.

Just as you stated, it is not accepting Jesus offer of Salvation is unpardonable, all other sin is forgiven by Christ all except this unforgivable sin, after what He endured for us in His own body, not that we were worthy of such a sacrifice.

Praise His Holy name.

Jesus is the only way to salvation. If you reject him, you are rejecting salvation. :thumbs_up

God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance"

Only such who resist His call, exclude themselves from His grace.

I feel terribly hurt when someone I love very much refuses to repent and accept Jesus, like they really want to, but waiting for a strong sign, which they may never get it.

I hang on, wishing my prayers for the unsaved would be heard...

I'm sorry I posted it, I later noticed you posted it earlier and we aren't supposed to post what another person posted before, it's my mistake really, I never noticed.

I'm sorry.

...

You've hit it on the head I believe, 'A strong sign' I've heard my unsaved husband speak like this, 'you'd think Jesus would show Himself and many then would believe' to which my only answer was 'why should He'
but it is true, why should He, He has give us His word, the Bible, and if we can't believe the truth, then we won't be set free.

How strange you saying that.

I had a friend who said the exact thing to me, he is really smart and he was desperately in need of a sign as he told me, just like doubteful Thomas they demand a sign and I believe they may get it, but God won't be happy giving it.

Christainity as an Education itself, it's full of common sense too, but common sense you'd have never guessed.

I hope that your husband will get his long waited sign, but I pray he wouldn't need one at all :)

God bless you sister.

To me he's got it and still refused to accept it as such.

One morning at 4am he said he awoke with the words 'come as you are' ringing in his head, I told him Jesus was speaking to him, but he chose to ignore it.

It would have been enough for me, but obviously not for him.

Thank you sister Nermeen

That is a big sign! God has His eyes on him and He's ready to aim!

God is inside you sister, and you are a part of your husband cause you're one flesh, and that little part will soften his heart and clean his whole body.

It must hurt you alot but God will keep throwing signs on him, He never gives up, that's something we know about God, He is strong enough to take a chance on every lost soul, your husband is a lucky man to have you!

Thank you sis for your welcomed encouragement.

At times it seems a lengthy, drawout, trail, with him, sometimes I try to drop just a little word here or there, don't overdo it.
Sometimes he'll ask me a question, and we have a brief discussion together.

But all in all, I don't see a real interest in him to be saved.
It's alright to go to church with me, twice a week too, to be talkative with the other people there, listen to the peircing message, and come out just the same as when he entered.
It never ceases to amaze me.
I'd love to shout 'do you not hear it?'
but I don't of course.

I know I must wait on the Lord, in His time, and I thank Him He supplies the peace to do so while I wait.
