"O Death, where [is] your sting? O Hades, where [is] your victory?" The sting of death [is] sin, and the strength of sin [is] the law. But thanks [be] to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:55-57 NKJV
The thought of dying scares most men—even many Christian men. We don’t like thinking about the truth that we’ll all die one day. We also grieve when a loved one dies, knowing that we’ll never see them again—at least in this life.
It may come as a surprise to most, but God never intended for us humans to taste death. Adam and Eve, the first humans, enjoyed perfect fellowship with their Creator in a beautiful garden where He intended for them to live forever; but when they chose disobedience, they brought death and destruction into the human experience.
But almost immediately after Adam and Eve sinned, God announced that He would send a Savior into the world to defeat sin and death once and for all. When Jesus died and was raised from the dead, He broke the power of sin and death and the law for everyone who would believe in Him. Now we can enjoy victory over death and eternal life in a forever home with Jesus in heaven.
Prayer: Jesus, when You rose from the grave, You defeated the curse of death forever. Though my body will die one day, I know that I will be raised.
