Hey Janelle,
Peace be unto you.
If God is revealing something to you in a vision, you should be able to speak to God about it, and yes get some kind of confirmation.
I Corinthians 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
Search the scriptures to see how God dealt with others involving visions and revelations. If you are not sure where to look in the scriptures, look up the words 'vision' 'revelation' 'prophecy' and 'dream' in a Strong's Concordance, to start with. If God has asked you to do something, I'm sure that when you don't do it, or hesitate, you'll hear from Him again. Look in the book of Daniel; after Daniel's horrifying vision, the angel Gabriel came to explain the things that he'd seen to him.
Some might say that God deals with us differently today than he did in the Bible, but I don't see why He would. What good is the Bible to us, if what we read in it doesn't apply to us anymore? If you bought an appliance, and the instruction manual that came with it was for an older model that was entirely different than the model sitting in front of you, wouldn't you question the mind of the manufacturers?
If that doesn't help you, you may need to speak with someone else who has experienced what you are going through.
If I can be of any further assistance, let me know.
Pray and read often
