So the LORD must wait for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion. For the LORD is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for his help. Isaiah 30:18 NLT
The nation of Judah was in deep trouble. The powerful and ruthless Assyrian army was attacking Israel and Judah, and Israel would soon be conquered—then the Assyrians would set their sights on the southern kingdom of Judah. But instead of turning to the Lord for help, Judah looked to Egypt for protection.
The first half of Isaiah 30 was God’s rebuke of Judah for looking to Egypt for help instead of the Lord. But in verse 18 (today’s scripture verse), Isaiah calls on Judah to trust in God and His love, compassion, and faithfulness toward His people.
God’s call in Isaiah’s time to turn to Him first is as valid today as it was back then.
When you’re faced with what seems like an impossible situation, turn with your whole heart to the Lord. He’s waiting to hear from you, and He’s more than willing and more than able to step into your situation and shower you with His love and compassion.
Prayer: Lord God, I will trust in You first when I need help or deliverance. Thank You for Your love, compassion, and faithfulness.
