I love GOD's animals. I would certainly help. Helping an animal out of love surely cannot take that much effort or labor, aside possibly financial funds if the animal is in need of medical attention. However, GOD provides for those that believe in Him and He would certainly provide for one caring for His beautiful animals.

I would help because I realize that all animals are God's creation. About a week ago I was driving and saw a turtle in the road. The car infront of me about hit it, so I couldn't leave it. So I stopped my car and got out and put it in the grass. Lol, yeah it's pretty silly, but I've always been like that.
I voted to help.
We seem to have always had a dog. That is over 40 years of marriage. Mainly because some family member wanted another dog each time the previous dog had gone to glory. But it is 'yours truly' who looks after the dogs Feed it, walk it, groom it, bathe it and yet the present dog (over 12 years) seems to prefer other family members to me. I assume that this is because I keep the dog in order, while others let him have his way.
I love the dog but now that all the birds have flown, and my bride and I are left alone in the old homestead, I would not worry if the dog fell down the stairs and died of natural causes. HaHa No I take that back, it is me that could fall down the stairs......etc.
The dog is a Sht-Zue, a Japanese dog and very affectionate, but now going blind. Always around my feet. Now that he is left with me I believe he is beginning to realise that I am the one who really cares MmMm

I have taken in so many strays my family are beginning to become very annoyed with me. I have two dogs that are mine and i foster those who need it. If i pass one on the street i take it home and try to get it back on its feet.
Expensive- not really when you think what junk you could go without to make the money up. It doesn't take much time or effort just a warm bed food, water and a half hour out of your day, the reward they give you in return is priceless. No matter how bad my day is my Dogs always know how to make it better they love me unconditionally sounds a bit like someone else i know. J

One of our cats is a stray we saw on the street on the way home from church.
One of our dogs was a stray that nobody wanted that Jim took in before he married me.
Since we have 4 pets now, I can't take in anymore pets. But I would certainly take a pet in and try to nurse it back to health or take it to the vet until we could find someone who wanted it.
My husband's daughter works at the veteranarian's. She has a soft heart for animals and ends up taking some of them home to keep, because no one wants them.

I would try to help if I could but my knowledge is limited when it comes to animals so if in doubt I would probably call the Royal Society for the Protection of Animals and see what they advised me to do.
I saw a labrador wandering the streets a little while ago. I know you aren't supposed to approach strange dogs but it was tipping it down with rain and the poor thing looked drenched. I insisted that my husband turn the car around and we go back. I got out and saw that the dog was blind. I figured that s/he might have escaped from one of the local houses. The poor thing smelt very bad, you can imagine what wet dog smells like. I knocked on the door of the house around the corner and a lady in her late 30's answered, she said the dog was hers and was often allowed to wander, it usually wandered from the front door to the post box around the corner and back! I wasn't to happy about the explaination. I gave the dog a lot of fuss and I told her she had a beautiful dog and then left.
Afterwards my husband didn't want to let me back in the car he said I smelt of wet dog and was soaked through. It was worth it though because at least I saw the dog safely home.
It is good to help all animals but be cautious because there might be unknown risks involved.

My daughter tried to help a baby squirrel once, in the back yard. Our dogs had caught it and she took it from them and tried to help it. (My husband and I did not know about this, as we were in the house.)
The squirrel bit her and she still did not tell us. Days later, some relatives were here, and a little boy told Michelle that trying to help squirrels is bad because they give you rabies.
So that night, she confesses to Jim and me, crying, saying, "I have rabies, I have rabies!"
"What?" I said.
She calmed down and told me that she had tried to save a baby squirrel from the dogs and that it had bit her and now she had rabies.
It turned out she did not have rabies, but we cautioned her to never pick up a squirrel or wild animal like that again without thick gloves and an experienced hand.
Maybe she will be a veteranarian someday.

. God Bless you Cody2.That is good advice Eve, about the risks, because of rabies and other diseases animals can carry. However, yes I probably would still make an effort to help the little critter. I have in the past had helped birds, or attempted to, but to no avail after a few days at home with me, they have died, I am not sure what I do wrong. So the question would be, if the helpless animal knew of my past rescuing record and had the ability to reason, would it want to take the risk of me trying to help it? I may be more of a hindrance than a help. lol

My oldest son once tried to revive a sick bird. We kept him for several days and tried to do everything right, but the bird died. I think Bryce was about 10 years old when that happened.

Well I actually voted for the option, 'walk away', because I have a reason behind it.
When we can see humans suffering on the streets, no body to look after them, how can we leave our brothers or sisters and help an animal?, but this doesn't mean that we should hate an animal, animals are God's creation and we should take care of them too, but not at the cost of the people which are desperate need, no body to care for them.
I wish if you could come to India and see the condition of many people. Infact there are people who can help them, but they are not willing to help them. They would rather quite frankly, waste money on movies, cricket and every sort of entertainment.
As for students in schools and colleges, life is horrible to describe. There is absolutely no time for anything. That is the way the colleges and schools make our lives miserable to study. I really thank God for the patience He gave me to bear all this struggle.
Infact the academic load is so heavy, sometimes we literally study and write exams without sleep in our eyes. Other than studies, there are no activites, not even games.
I'm so glad for the way God gave me the patience to bear this struggle. Infact many students commited suicide, unable to bear the struggle and schedule.

some people are spendind way too much money, energy and time helping animals. It's good to care for them, but never go too far. Would we have the same reaction if that "dirty, ill and clearly starving" animal were a human being...? Many of us would just walk away from humans in such a situation. I think we should first care about people...
The point of this poll was not discuss a choice between helping people or animals first, there is a balance to everything,
If you pass an injured animal in the street you dont think to yourself ''oh just because its an animal and not a person i wont help''. You help reguardless the situation because its the right thing to do.
We all know human beings come first ,but thats no excuse not to help, if you dont want to then dont thats your own personal choice.

I smile regarding this post....because as I type, I am looking into the face of a precious baby, whom I picked up off of the street. He is a kitten, he was roaming the streets, wailing very loudly and was so dirty, it was sad.....I think someone threw him out and said "we don't want you anymore."
He is so precious and adorable.....I am falling in love, even though I vowed not to keep this one, he is making his way into my heart!
My hope is to find a very nice house for him and to make sure he does not end up on the streets again, or worse, a kill shelter!
I have two older senior cats, and they are very unhappy with me and him right now! His bouncing off of them is not a very good idea! He is making them furious!!!! especially when they are napping!
Anyway, I did bring this little guy with me. Originally, I ended up with two cats because someone was getting rid of the cat and I ended up adopting it. This little guy would make three! Help!!!
But this is the deal.....animals are God's creation....they are helpless! they need us to watch over them. So I think it is godly to do so!
Humans, on the other hand.....are another thing...I hope I don't sound heartless, because I am not.
I have often stopped and given food to a homeless person. I have greeted them and done what I could do. But there are some person's who are dishonestly scamming and swindling the person's whom they are soliciting from.
How do you know if that one person is an alcoholic?
Yesterday, I saw a man, whom I have seen driving a car....begging for money in front of the store......he does not look as if he needs help, yet some people were giving him money. Where and what is he doing with this money? Is it a form of employment for him. Is he doing it to get drug money?
Would God be honored if we gave and they misspent it? Of course not!
We don't know. But we can't help but be cautious...We have all heard the horror stories.
Some sick persons are on the streets and may even be mentally sick. They refuse to allow or seek help. For example, they may not want to go to a shelter, rehab facility, or even hospital.....so many scenarios.........
Something to meditate on, I suppose............

Here in Turkey there are no animal shelters but the government scoops up the strays and neuters them and gives them shots but then they tag them and put them back on the street. I have been feeding the ones in our neighborhood since we moved here. They are pretty skiddish so there is no way to show them physical love but I am sure they feel it.
