Walking in the Light? (Part one)
1Jn 1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not the truth:
1Jn 1:7 But IF WE WALK IN THE LIGHT, AS HE IS IN THE LIGHT, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
The Bible tells us... “if we WALK in the LIGHT as HE is in the LIGHT.....”.
Who is the “He” that is in the light?
God dwells in the light we are supposed to walk in!!! I thought God himself was light.
1Jn 1:5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that GOD IS LIGHT, and in him is no darkness at all.
God is light, but he himself, who is light, also lives INSIDE light!
Psa 104:1 Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honor and majesty.
Psa 104:2 WHO COVEREST THYSELF WITH LIGHT as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain:
God who is light covers Himself with light as with a garment! Who or what is that light that God covers himself with?
Speaking of Jesus Christ the Son of God....
Heb 1:2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us BY HIS SON, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
Heb 1:3 WHO BEING THE BRIGHTNESS OF HIS GLORY, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
Jesus is known as the Glory of the Father. He (Jesus) is the brightness of God. God the Father dwells within his Son Jesus who is light!!!! Jesus always said that it was his Father living inside him that did all the works that he performed (John 14:10), and that he (Jesus) could do nothing of himself! (John 5:30)
God dwells in light that no man can see or can approach!
1Ti 6:15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
1Ti 6:16 Who only hath immortality, DWELLING IN THE LIGHT WHICH NO MAN CAN APPROACH UNTO; WHOM NO MAN HATH SEEN, NOR CAN SEE: to whom be honor and power everlasting. Amen.
Notice it said God who is light lives inside light!
Man's sinful natural physical body cannot see or approach a Holy God. Man's physical body is the hindrance that prevents him from walking in the Light to where God lives, yet we are commanded to walk in the light that God dwells in! We can have no fellowship with God without walking the light of His Glory!
Man must first put off his body so he can walk in the light of God! How could this be possible?
Col 2:9 For IN HIM (JESUS CHRIST) DWELLETH ALL THE FULNESS OF THE GODHEAD BODILY.
Col 2:10 And YE ARE COMPLETE IN HIM, which is the head of all principality and power:
Col 2:11 In whom also YE ARE CIRCUMCISED WITH THE CIRCUMCISION MADE WITHOUT HANDS, INPUTTING OFF THE BODY OF THE SINS OF THE FLESH by the circumcision of Christ:
Rom 8:8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
Rom 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
In Jesus dwells ALL the fullness of the Godhead bodily!!!! Everything that God is, is contained within Jesus Christ because Jesus Christ who is light is God's Body!!!!
The best part of this scripture is found in the very next verse....
Col 2:10 And “YE ARE COMPLETE IN HIM.......”
The sinful flesh of man was “CUT OFF” by the circumcision (which means to cut off) of Christ!!!!
Col 2:11 In whom also YE ARE CIRCUMCISED WITH THE CIRCUMCISION MADE WITHOUT HANDS, INPUTTING OFF THE BODY OF THE SINS OF THE FLESH by the circumcision of Christ:
We should not be trying to see the external Glory of God, because we are on the inside of His Glory looking out!!!!!!!!! No man can see afar off without first being in Christ so as to see beyond what our physical eyes can not see!! The lack of knowledge of this causes a lack of faith, and a lack of faith causes the inability to experience this as a reality in our lives.
Being able to walk in the light of God becomes a reality as we learn that we are already in His light through the new birth.
I can not believe in something I have no knowledge of, and I can not experience in what I do not believe!
