Frank, my brother in Christ, concerning Matthew 7:17-20; This shows that true faith in Christ changes a person's life and produces fruit, which is the characteristics of Jesus. Good tree means good in a person's character. Good fruit means a person is genuinely and inherently good, righteous, noble, and excellent. Because of our true faith in Christ, we will produce spiritual fruit, just as everything in nature produces after its kind. Good tree means a good heart, good fruit is the result of the good heart. True faith in Christ will produce a good heart, which will produce a life full of good fruit. Good fruit is: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, and set-control. As we keep our faith in Christ and what He did for us at the cross; the Holy Spirit Who dwells within us because of our faith, will help manifest this fruit in our lives. It is an on-going process that will continue until God takes us home. The Holy Spirit will help us grow in good fruit and lead us to do good works that will honor God and bring Him glory. It is no longer about us anymore, it's about Christ living through us. I hope these words have been helpful.I was just wondering what is the meaning of Matthew 7 verse 17 through 20?
