Today there seems to be a great number of professional ministers on television, radio and the internet teaching and preaching their thoughts concerning Jesus. Some even specialize in specific catagories, like faith, healing, deliverence and the prophetic to mention a few. I don't think that there has ever been a time in the history of the Church that there has been so much talk of things concerning christianity. Many have been recognized for their thoughts, theologies, teachings and sermons.
As I look at the declining morals and the threat of disease, storms, earthquakes and famine, it seems that the world is becoming worse despite our vast knowledge. You can teach about healing to someone who is sick but that doesn't make their healing a reality. You can preach the Lordship of Jesus Christ but the sermon doesn't bring this reality into someone's heart. Now don't misunderstand me, I'm not against teaching and preaching, on the contrary I'm all for it but something is lacking.
Acts 4:8-15
8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Leaders and elders of our nation, 9 are we being questioned because we’ve done a good deed for a crippled man? Do you want to know how he was healed? 10 Let me clearly state to you and to all the people of Israel that he was healed in the name and power of Jesus Christ from Nazareth, the man you crucified, but whom God raised from the dead. 11 For Jesus is the one referred to in the Scriptures, where it says,
‘The stone that you builders rejected
has now become the cornerstone.’*
12*There is salvation in no one else! There is no other name in all of heaven for people to call on to save them.”
13*The members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men who had had no special training. They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus. 14*But since the man who had been healed was standing right there among them, the council had nothing to say. 15*So they sent Peter and John out of the council chamber* and conferred among themselves.
In the event listed above we can see that the healing power of Jesus did not manifest in the scribes and pharisees ( the profound teachers of scripture) but rather in ordinary men who had spent time with Jesus.
The sermons that many preach today are a result of hours spent on the internet, not in the presence of Jesus our Lord. Knowing about Jesus does not make you spiritual but knowing Jesus does. We need to return to the basics. Can you really know someone without spending time with them?
There's an old saying "it's not what you know but WHO you know" that seems to ring true in this case especially. With that said, let me finish with this, if I were to be recognized for anything, I would want it to be said that jiggyfly has been with Jesus.
