The faith that Jesus praised wasn’t content to sit back and wait. Risky faith that leads to life transformation risks personal reputation and the criticism of others in order to reach its end. The men who sacrificed their reputations and even their financial well-being for the sake of their friend show that risky faith can also be put into action for the benefit of others. Seeing the needs of their friend, they placed their hope in getting him to Jesus. No obstacle could keep them from seeking Jesus.
Is there someone in your life who needs your support? Is there a way that you can “carry” this person to Jesus in faith? Is there anything holding you back at this time?
The kind of risky faith that Jesus commended sought ways to overcome obstacles for the sake of others and had a kind of desperate confidence in the power of Jesus. Today may be a good time to ask if you’ve underestimated Jesus.
Prayer: Jesus, help me become aware of the needs around me and grant me the faith to act and pray boldly on behalf of others.
