Barabbas!!!! Barabbas!!! Do you know what his full name was?? Jesus Barabbas! meaning SON of the Father! The Bible does not say what happened to this man after he was relesed,some believe he went and saw the crucifixion,others believed he was later killed in a Roman rebellion.
But what makes Barabbas mean something to me,is that Barabbas,was US!! WE were this man!! being freed from our Master Jesus Christ! Barabbas was a sinner,like us,he sinned in both thought, and deed,just like we have.
When Jesus was being blinfolded and mocked,when Jesus was being beaten with 7 and a half inches spikes that tore his very flesh off with each strike,when Blood was falling all over him, and on the ground,Jesus did that for every single Barabbas! Jesus took all these terrible blows,just so like Barabbas, we could also be free in him!
To feel the sufferning and the shame Jesus was put through,I will do a rare thing,I will tell you of a man I knew who died in Vienam, this man was tied to a large pole,in a water hole,he was then beaten with a doctor present!! All of his bones were broken,yes even his fingers,just when he was about to die,the doctor ordered the beating stopped,he was taken from the pole,he was helped,he was given food, for his pains,and after the man was well again,he was put right back up on the pole to suffer the same fate!
Jesus suffered what most can not even dream of!! By the time he was put on the cross, he had very little flesh to stick up there! because younger folks may read this,I sure do not want to become to graphic!! But I think you get the picture! Jesus took all of this,and whatever you think you can imagine in your heads,and far worse then your sickest nightmares, because, he loved us!
Talk about heavy weights!! Jesus bore every single one of them on the cross for us Barabbas! We being that name.We get a paper cut and some scream,we bump ourselves on a car door, and are in pain,think of this kind of pain lasting for more then 6 hours!! This our Jesus took,without complaining!!
This our Jesus took just so each one of us would not have to endure the same!! This our Jesus took,because so GREAT is his love for us!! And some would dare live there life taking what Jesus did for granted?? This my brothers and sisters is what our LORD DID!! This was the ultimate sacrifice made for by him for US!!
Greater love hath no man then to lay down his life for a friend. John 10:7 I am the GOOD SHEPHERD Christ gave his life for HIS sheep,YOU!! AND ME! He became the very door to God's fold! As the great Shepherd( hebrews 13:20-21 He ROSE from the dead!! why?? To care for his Sheep!! as Chief Shepherd!! and he will come again for HIS!!! SHEEP!!( 1 Peter 5:4!!)
And when the CHIEF Shephard appears,YOU will recieve the unfading crown of glory! Jesus came, not because he had to,but because he loved us!! THAT MUCH!! Can we my brothers and sister do less to oneanother? I cannot!! May this word cause in all of us the saving grace,how indeed sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me! Blessing unto you all, in our Jesus!!This is what Good Friday means to me,There is no one here,that is less in Christ then I am,and to me,no more is more thankful to him !! Blessing!
