What do you do?
What gets your priority...your Bible or your mobile phone

I have been a PC user for over 30 years. But the last 4 or 5 years it seems there are so many mobile apps
that PC sales are on the decline (I saw Intel is laying off 12,000 people yesterday).
So I carry my cell phone with me all the time (a requirement for my job) but the most used app on my phone
is my Bible. (I frequently copy and paste scripture here on TJ from my phone).

In the meantime I am praying that all iPhone and Windows phone users will come to
the truth of knowledge that is Android; and get saved!!

Ha, ha... just kidding.

Of an old school, my wife and I never owned a cell phone until a couple of years ago when our daughter decided we needed one and put one for us on her family circuit. I could NOT call up a scripture on that thing if I had to... I can usually answer it when it rings, but I have trouble making a call on it without difficulty so I rarely try.

One of my Bibles is always by my chair where I read it each day. The Word of God, as much of it as God has put there, is written on my heart for easy access. When I drive alone I usually put a CD of the scripture as read by James Earl Jones. I don't do too much walking these days as the old legs cannot goo too far any more. I haven't work at a job for more than 15 years so there's no Bible there.

At home on this forum and others, I use E-sword as needed and another Bible program that I bought probably long before there was an E-Sword.

Our mobile phone is for me a 'no contest' so probably my response won't mean much in your poll. Give God the glory!

Recently finding God and Jesus as my personal savior, I have dived head first into my bible! I started in the New Testament as a friend of mine suggested this was the best place to begin. I've personally never read threw the whole bible so right now I am. I literally bring it every where, even if I don't get to read it while I'm at the grocery store, it's in my purse. I try very hard every day now that my bible gets priority over my cell phone and if I'm on my phone I have spent a lot of time on TJ since I found it. Though threw my personal experience of the world around me, this isn't true for a lot of people. Honestly it's like I'm the outkast anymore. I have stopped drinking and tried to put all my sinful ways behind me. I've also found an amazing church I've started to go to and probably go to for the rest of my life. There is a lot of things I've prayed hard about and God has allowed me to be free from the temptations of my sins and it is an amazing feeling.
Not saying that it has been the easiest journey because of the world and people around me. I used to be the girl who was the craziest at the party, drank tons and simply made a fool of myself. It embarrasses me to think about it now, but that's not who I am anymore. Though my friends and family who still drink and party don't really understand my new life. They have told me "your not as fun anymore", and at first this was hard. I went outside and took a walk. This is something I do everyday. I find that going outside and taking a walk is my best time to pray. After being told I wasn't much fun anymore it kinda hurt. I looked up in the sky and asked God, I'm still fun and awesome person right? Truly i tell you one of the most amazing things in my whole life happened. Two little birds flew down from the tree and started flying so close to my head in a circle, I had never saw anything like it in my whole life. Right then I knew it was God just telling me, Angelena don't worry your doing the right thing! This doesn't mean I would have have ran right inside and chugged a beer without a sign like this, but it was something I will never ever forget. My new journey with God is one I will walk for the rest of my life and I am very excited to see what God has in store for me and how much I get to grow with him and the word! Though yes I do give my bible number one priority because without Christ I don't know where I might be at, honestly maybe in jail or a grave. That might sound harsh but it's the bad reality of a sinful life, it's scary and dark. Threw God it's bright and so peaceful. For the last few years I've struggled with anxiety very bad, no medicines helped. They actually made it worse, the only thing that ever helps is God.
I've try to help everyone in my life who never reads their bibles or prays, I have found that a lot of people find God scary! He isn't scary that is the devil trying to keep us away from hearing the word! In just a few short months I've learned all this! I can't wait to see all God has in store for me! I honestly think I belong in the church helping doing all I can! Maybe this is why God has helped me learn so fast, either way it's sparked a fire in my heart and it's never going out! My dream is one day maybe get to sing in church or any where about the lord! I love to sing and always dreamed of going to Nashville and getting signed. Though I think I'm meant for way more than that, singing the praises of our lord!!
Thank you for taking the time out of your days to read this!! God bless everyone :)

I'm still fun and awesome person right?

Welcome Angelena. Great smile on your profile picture. Let me guess, that picture was taken AC opposed to BC.
After Christ, oppose to before Christ, lol, jk.

But yea, its always refreshing to see Christians on fire for the LORD.

Yes, that is one of the battle's we face following Jesus, being rejected by the world. But as Jesus
told us in John 15:18, "If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first."

But it terms of being a fun person, one could say people are fun because they do fun things. Serving God
though hard on the flesh is definitely fun and good for the soul. And when it comes to all of eternity, now
that you are in the Father's Forever Family, you will be having a great deal of fun in Heaven after this world with
the most awesome person ever (Jesus).

Amen.

What if we carried the Word of God in our heart. We can not force people to read the Bible but we can force them to read our lives, which is the Bible.

2 Cor 3:1 Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you?
2 Cor 3:2 Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:

Thanks for sharing! My background is similar, I have been a Christian for 15 years now. My friends at the time didn't understand either, some I lost and some I didn't but I have learned that having perpetual joy is far better than having fun for a time. This was very encouraging.

I recently brought a new KJV bible. I used to read the word online b/c my old one was ripped apart, and had tape keeping it together. Not everyone has money or access to the inprint bible. I could read the word online w/o getting that distracted. Also, you can highlight verses, and favorite them.

Greetings,

Interesting poll!
Do you mean only mobile phones or do other devices count, too?
I use an Android tablet (I destroyed my PC!) and it gets a lot of my time usually after hours. If I am not logged in here I find it a very handy tool for studying Scripture and can get quite immersed in it. I don't do much else on it.
The reason I ask is while the poll questions are related to mobile phones, iPads and tablets are so similar and can get all the attention and time instead of mobile phones. I suppose PC's can be used a lot, too.

Naturally we wouldn't like or want to admit that anything ever gets more attention than our Bibles but it appears in this day that the internet does dominate many people's time and attention and if not the internet, the devices ensnare the masses. I don't think that most people spend hours on end actually talking to someone on their phones but you can be assured that there is always a priority and urgency to answer the mobile phones when a call comes. It's quite manic really, the almost desperate 'need' to answer before it cuts off and the almost total pre-eminence to the phone as if it was holy and a matter of life or death.

There has emerged a queer culture today of social networking at the expense of real communication between people who are together, on the bus or train, at the park or walking, sitting for a coffee or waiting for an appointment, even sitting in the same room, in the house, the home.

It's not only the younger generation, either.

It started with the computer (or was the television the beginning?) and has evolved uninterrupted into the present mobile devices that are the electronic have to have accessories that everyone (nearly) protects and keeps close and strokes gently, that chants the owners to laughter, tears, excitement and fears - attention demanding image machines. Crazy stuff!

May I take the opportunity to suggest that if you do use a mobile device that you at least get a Bible / Scripture study app and if you're on android, I recommend MySword which comes pre-loaded with basic tools and can be built up to be a comprehensive reference for studying Scripture. Once you've got the app and added the available books, go to
MySword Modules
Where you can look for even more study tools. Biblesupport.com is also helpful if you use E-Sword on a PC. Linux users can get very useful software, too, but that's sourced elsewhere as anyone who uses Linux would appreciate. I have no idea what or where the Apple users would go?

If you carry a mobile phone and find yourself turning to it when time and circumstances permit, at least get some decent non-data-using software or app for spending time in Scripture.

I carry my mobile phone with me a lot but it doesn't get much time from me. I have my bible with me always and the two occasions I can remember over the last 30 years that I somehow didn't have it with me , I felt almost naked! I have other Bibles that I use that presently live predominantly on my desk and a few different versions / translations in my bookshelf. However, I am acutely aware that neither carrying my Bible nor owning Bibles, nor even reading nor studying Scripture makes me a better person than anyone else nor will I be able to boast of such before the LORD when He comes. I am concerned though, that the phenomenon of the digital cyber internet dependency be much more sinister and fatal than most people would care to consider, let alone agree about.

I think in all honestly, our real time either reading/studying Scripture and/or praying and seeking the LORD is small compared to everything else we do, mobile devices or not.

Bless you ....><>

I use an Android tablet

@Br. Bear

I guess to include all devices is most appropriate to society today

Scary

Google and wikipedia have become the false mini gods society seeks for answers.

Dear Lord may we cling to your Word....as in the message shared in this old Sunday School hymn.

Cling to the Bible, though all else be taken;
Lose not its precepts, so precious and pure;
Souls that are sleeping its tidings awaken;
Life from the dead in its promises sure.

Cling to the Bible!
Cling to the Bible!
Cling to the Bible—
Our Lamp and our Guide!

Cling to the Bible! This jewel and treasure
Brings life eternal, and saves fallen man;
Surely its value no mortal can measure:
Seek for its blessing, O soul, while you can!

Lamp for the feet that in byways have wandered,
Guide for the youth that would otherwise fall;
Hope for the sinner whose life has been squandered,
Staff for the agèd, and best book of all.*

From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD'S name is to be praised
Psalm 113:3

Blessings
I go back and forth between Books and Phone.

I have a Holy Bible app that takes up little space and have downloaded more translations then I could have sitting at my desk or on my lap.

For us a huge blessing has been an app that let's me down load sermons and put them on a card and play them on the tv.

Some series are over 18 hours long and we average at least 8 hours a day.
The Lord leads us to what He wants to incorporate into our lives (Spirit man) and we stay in it until He moves us to another one.

We have several that flow together and We will spend weeks on one then onto the other for many weeks and back.

It's literally changing our lives Praise God. This is an Awesome time to be alive in Christ.
God Bless
