What is the point of a righteous life when you can repent last minute? Spiritually confused

I don't understand life lately. At 29 i've nothing but depression and regrets. I believe my afflictions will haunt me for years to come.

I wish all the time life was different. That we could live forever. Didn't jesus promise eternal life? Yet we die anyways? If we are made to live for god why can't we do that forever and just remove death from the equation?

Abd if we can live an immoral life up until age 70, repent at 71, die at 72 what was the whole point anyways?

Greetings,

those who decide to live an evil life and repent before they die may never have that opportunity.

Who knows the time appointed?
God is not mocked.

If you hear the Gospel Message, repent while it is still today.

Bless you ....><>

As Br Bear just advised, don't wait NOW may be your time. Also if Jesus be true (I Know He i), then really read Matthew 25;1-13. About half of those claiming to be of the Church are not truly His. They ran out last minute to get in and He shut the door of Salvation right in their face. They were not really His (Romans 8:9). Remember Simon Magi! He believed and was baptized but his heart was wrong before God.

I knew a man named John who believed he got saved at a Billy Graham crusade at 13. He lived an evil life. Robbed people, beat women, sold and did serious drugs, and at his funeral, the minister asked us to bless John for he wàs in a better place now. Really? Where is Salvation by death?

True repentance at any age gets us saved, sure. Repentance must always take place soonest. Nobody should want to be the person enjoying sin and delaying repenting and hating it. Your love of sin could be material and no repentance could ever be trusted by God or yourself. You sound like someone who thinks ''repentance'' is an easy thing to do. Make no mistake, only the sincerest of repentances of sin catch God's eye Psalm 51:17.

The sooner you repent the more good works you can store in heaven. Life is also lived to its fullest if you know what your purpose on earth is. This happens after you repent and accept Jesus as Lord. You stop wondering around like a directionless monkey doing absolutely nothing fruitful with your life.

As for your age, relax, 29 is still young. Age does not actually matter. You can be 65 and live a few amazingly fruitful lives for God.

So true. Well said! God does not judge by outward things, a humble and contrite HEART He will not despise. Thank you Lord!

I can tell you God chose me at 34 yrs old, and I wished He would have done it sooner. I can't imagine my life without Him in me.

We don't know for sure if someone is genuine at the end of their life.
Turning to God out of fear of going to Hell is the worst choice. We're not guaranteed one second longer than He intends us to.
There is no post-death repentance. Once dead, it's too late.

I don't agree with the term ''too late''.

It is never too late. God does not send anyone to eternal hell if there is any hope that they would have actually sincerely repented of their sins.

So? Opinions are irrelevant with God.
Yes it is. You've no scripture to back up your second statement. "If"? God doesn't deal in If's. I've heard this excuse so many times I'd be rich it there were such an outcome.

However, you can infer the most likely, most logical, common sense answer to anything given what info is given.
False hope is worse than no hope. Lies are Satan's ways not ours.

I agree actually and just because the last gasp prayer is uttered does not mean they are saved. They (as you indicated) may just be afraid of the hell they lived for all their lives. Fear of Hell is not true contrition.

As no one knows for sure but the most logical answer is "believing in God out of fear of the unknown or Hell" is not salvation.
In Heaven, we'd be surprised to see who is and is not there.

From the OP:

That very thought is a presumption, and the Holy Bible is replete with verses telling us that presumption is a sin.

Every born again believer fights that easy-out lie/temptation of "sin now, repent later."

Dr J Vernon Magee says 3 surprizes await. First that some we thought would be there are not. Second some we thought would not will be there, and third that we are there
