my mind knows that i need to give my life to god and be saved but the problem is my heart. its not in my heart to do it. i have no genuine fear of god most of the time. i ask god all the time to save me from myself but i feel like he just doesn't care. but then its like that being said i know that its my fault for not trying hard enough. sometimes i feel like it shouldn't be so hard to take the initiative tho. was it this hard for some of you?? i live my life as a good person already in my acts so if i were to get saved i wouldn't change in behavoir but i guess my perception would change and i would have empathy for everyone. i guess would do things 'just cause' rather than it just makes me feel better. i just wish god would send me someone who i can learn to trust on some degree who could inspire my heart. i know this sounds strange to some of you. what do you think is wrong with me really? how do take the first step to being born again?

First of all, nothing is wrong with you, my friend. So you're not saved? IE You haven't asked Jesus to come into your heart and repented of your sins yet?

This is from gotquestionsdotorg (one of my favorite Bible info sites):

Question: "Got Forgiveness? How do I receive forgiveness from God?"

Answer: Acts 13:38 declares, “Therefore, my brothers, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you.”

What is forgiveness and why do I need it?

The word “forgive” means to wipe the slate clean, to pardon, to cancel a debt. When we wrong someone, we seek their forgiveness in order for the relationship to be restored. Forgiveness is not granted because a person deserves to be forgiven. No one deserves to be forgiven. Forgiveness is an act of love, mercy, and grace. Forgiveness is a decision to not hold something against another person, despite what they have done to you.

The Bible tells us that we are all in need of forgiveness from God. We have all committed sin. Ecclesiastes 7:20 proclaims, “There is not a righteous man on earth who does what is right and never sins.” 1 John 1:8 says, “If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.” All sin is ultimately an act of rebellion against God (Psalm 51:4). As a result, we desperately need God’s forgiveness. If our sins are not forgiven, we will spend eternity suffering the consequences of our sins (Matthew 25:46; John 3:36).

Forgiveness – How do I get it?

Thankfully, God is loving and merciful – eager to forgive us of our sins! 2 Peter 3:9 tells us, “…He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” God desires to forgive us, so He provided for our forgiveness.

The only just penalty for our sins is death. The first half of Romans 6:23 declares, “For the wages of sin is death…” Eternal death is what we have earned for our sins. God, in His perfect plan, became a human being – Jesus Christ (John 1:1,14). Jesus died on the cross, taking the penalty that we deserve – death. 2 Corinthians 5:21 teaches us, “God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.” Jesus died on the cross, taking the punishment that we deserve! As God, Jesus' death provided forgiveness for the sins of the entire world. 1 John 2:2 proclaims, “He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.” Jesus rose from the dead, proclaiming His victory over sin and death (1 Corinthians 15:1-28). Praise God, through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the second half of Romans 6:23 is true, “…but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Do you want to have your sins forgiven? Do you have a nagging feeling of guilt that you can’t seem to get to go away? Forgiveness of your sins is available if you will place your faith in Jesus Christ as your Savior. Ephesians 1:7 says, “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace.” Jesus paid our debt for us, so we could be forgiven. All you have to do is ask God to forgive you through Jesus, believing that Jesus died to pay for your forgiveness – and He will forgive you! John 3:16-17 contains this wonderful message, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.”

Forgiveness – is it really that easy?

Yes it is that easy! You can’t earn forgiveness from God. You can’t pay for your forgiveness from God. You can only receive it, by faith, through the grace and mercy of God. If you want to accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and receive forgiveness from God, here is prayer you can pray. Saying this prayer or any other prayer will not save you. It is only trusting in Jesus Christ that can provide forgiveness of sins. This prayer is simply a way to express to God your faith in Him and thank Him for providing for your forgiveness. "God, I know that I have sinned against You and am deserving of punishment. But Jesus Christ took the punishment that I deserve so that through faith in Him I could be forgiven. I place my trust in You for salvation. Thank You for Your wonderful grace and forgiveness! Amen!"

And from my personal standpoint, I cannot even begin to explain what it feels like to have a close relationship with Jesus Christ. PLEASE make Him your goal. All you have to do is ask and the door will be opened, my friend. He put this feeling of wanting to know Him in your heart. God Himself put that yearning for Him inside you! You just cannot know what you're missing by not knowing Him personally. These scriptures comes to mind....

Philippians 3:8

All things are worth nothing compared with the greatness
of knowing Christ Jesus, my Lord. Because of Him, I have
lost all those things and now know they are worthless trash.

Psalm 18:6
"In my distress I called upon the Lord; I cried
unto my God for help. From his temple, he
heard my voice."

Psalm 34:4
"I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered
me from all my fears."

Jesus Christ loves you just how you are right now - He could not possibly love you, accept you, or approve of you anymore than He does right this minute. And Jesus is not some great "man" that lived 2,000 years ago - He's a real, living God who's right now wanting you to come to Him. He absolutely adores you. He's completely in love with you. All He wants is for you to call on Him. Please do it.

Romans 10:9-13

9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”[a] 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”

We all have our ups & downs through life. As long as there is a imperfect life, there's no getting away from that.

But there is one thing I have come to realize, as long as we seek The Almighy and give worship to HIM, through HIS Son, Christ Jesus; HE will help us bare through the hard times we have in worship to HIM & trying to turn away from our wrong doings.

Keep in mind, though it's not GOD Almighty that is > not helping us < but, we ourselves & the devil pushing us.

* How can The Almighty GOD help us, if we do not do as HE says?

Have you ever heard of this scripture - 1 Peter 5:8? It says we should be of self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

Satan realizes & knows that you have a change of heart & want to turn your life around & serve GOD.

Satan knows your weeknesses, he knows your bad habits, and he will tempt you now like he never has before.

He's testing the love you have for GOD & will continue to 'push your buttons' in hope that you will give up on GOD.

All you need to is be strong with all your might & never stop trusting in GOD.

I have always felt encouragement from this scripture John 14:13-26

13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father.
14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit
15 "If you love me, you will obey what I command.
16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever—
17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be[a] in you.
18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live.
20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.
21 Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him."
22 Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, "But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?"

23 Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
24 He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.

25 "All this I have spoken while still with you.
26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

I suggest you think about these verses; meditate on them -

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through (a decision to have) faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no man can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." (Ephesians 2:8-9)

When you sincerely asked God to come in to your heart and forgive you your sins, He did it. Some people get a strong emotional response from that, others feel no emotional response. It makes no difference. Those who choose to put their faith in Jesus are saved period!

thanks all of you for responding. i'm going to go back and read all of those scriptures when i have more time. don't want to rush thru them you know.

The message I'm sharing with you now, was shared with me from somebody else.

I hope that it will give you the understanding like it has for me.

"You cannot see the devil, only the effects of the devil. When we don't resist him, he takes over and sends death to us. Maybe it starts out small, but it will end in death. It's like taking a little bit of poison. It may not kill you right off, but keeping taking it and you will eventually die. Sometimes you will die a slow and painful death.

If you will resist the enemy and deal with him, you will have life. You were given power over all the power of the enemy. (Luke 10:19) You are not just his pitiful little victim. You are greater than the enemy.

{Luke 10:19} - Look, I have given you power to tread down serpents and scorpions and the whole strength of the enemy; nothing shall ever hurt you.

IF you exercise your rights and authority in the name of Jesus. He is nothing but a bully and bullies run scared when you stand up to them many times.

What is the most important thing you could do when you feel like quitting or having a pity party? Now don't act religious. You know that those feelings show up sometimes. It is what you do with them that counts? One Brother, gone now, used to say, "You can't stop the birds from flying over, but you don't have to let them build a nest in your hair."

When you feel like doing nothing or just like pouting, then that is when you absolutely must pay attention to and do the Word of God. It is the job of the enemy to take your "feelings" and twist them into a pretzel.

Giving In To The Bully
I remember when I was a little girl in elementary school(grades 1-6), we had bullies that would just torment us. Especially the fifth and sixth graders always picked on the younger ones because they could intimidate them. (That is the way that bullies are) Bullies usually run when you stand up to them. That's why they don't pick on people their own age. My Mom would always tell me, don't give them the satisfaction. One girl would cry every time they teased her. Giving in to them made them want to just keep on teasing her. She was an easy target. Some of us have been easy targets for the enemy. If he can get us to "get into a bad mood" and not apply the truth of the Word of God when some challenge comes, then he is going to keep on pouring it on. The problem is guaranteed to continue.

The Only Way To Stop The Battle.
Stand up to the enemy. Refuse the thing he is trying to give you. Now how in the world do you do that? (1) Stop the grumbling and wallowing in your pity party. (2) Take a look at your own attitude and straighten it up. (3) Make up your mind that you are not going to accept what the enemy is dishing out. (4) Make up your mind you are going to do it God's way with His help, after all you have been given power and authority in the name of Jesus). (5) Repent and go to the Word of God. (6) Find your promise and stand on it. (7) Get pro-active with the Word of God. Meditate it. Study it. Confess it. Believe it and it only.

well, to just be plain and blunt:

When God tells us to stop doing something, he expects obedience. Our responding with the prayer "Please take away my desire..." is wrong. We are simply to respond with obedience.

Same is true with this. You don't need anyone to inspire you're heart. You already know what God is asking from you. The choice of obedience is up to you.
