Pro 1:22 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

Pro 9:8 Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.

Pro 19:29 Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.

Pro 22:10 Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease.

1Cr 5:11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

1Pe 3:8-9 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous: Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.

Is there something wrong with that? This was not written in a spirit of condemnation, but exhortation. If I hid the truth of salvation, that would be wrong. If I railed against ignorant unbelievers, that would be wrong. But I am not doing either of those, I am exhorting the Brethren, who already know of salvation, hope and the future life.

Brother Steven... stick to the topic, he was just posting as he said to edify the members. This was not a salvation post, so why expect it to be? Is every post you make about salvation brother? I didn't think so...

God bless

ooooops Sorry, no offence intended..

The original poster here has earnestly contended that our faith calls us to cast out scorners and railers to remove contentions from the body of Christ and in 1 Cor Paul gives us example of how to proceed and even shows us when we may have gone too far with a sinner within the body of Christ.

Yes we are to love the sinner and hate the sin, but we are also expected to expect the sinner to repent. When he/she doesn't the bible prescribes a remedy for the body of Christ for its own protection and therefore the preservation of its salvation. The original poster here has done us all a service.

Thank you, Bob. I used to think that if I encountered a mocker, etc., that it was my job to put up with them and try to show them the truth even through their mockery. While, of course, one instance of mockery is not enough to be cast out of the body, if a person is a continual mocker then we need not get into lengthy, pointless arguments. In such a case all that we need to do is, as a body, cast them out, and pray that they change and return.
