When Man's Laws Violate God's Laws

But when Daniel learned that the law had been signed, he went home and knelt down as usual in his upstairs room, with its windows open toward Jerusalem. He prayed three times a day, just as he had always done, giving thanks to his God. Daniel 6:10

How would you respond if a law were passed forcing you to violate your conscience in regard to something about which God had clearly spoken? That's exactly the situation Daniel found himself in. King Darius had just issued a decree forbidding anyone from worshiping or praying to anyone but him--this under the threat of becoming lunch to a den full of hungry lions.

Daniel had plenty to be concerned about, so, being powerless to change the law, he did the only thing he could: he prayed. After learning of the law, he went to his upstairs room three times every day and prayed to the God who could save him and keep him faithfully serving Him.

There is plenty happening in today's culture that can move a man of God to anger, even fear. That's not necessarily a bad thing, provided those emotions move him to prayer.

Prayer: Lord, I see many things in today's culture--things I know don't please or honor You--that bring me to a point of anger or fear. Remind me always to bring those things to You in prayer.
