Save me, O God! For the waters have come up to [my] neck. I sink in deep mire, Where [there is] no standing; I have come into deep waters, Where the floods overflow me. Psalm 69:1-2 NKJV
Can you remember a time when it seemed like life was treating you unfairly, when it seemed as though someone was mistreating you or slandering you without cause? In Psalm 69, David’s words convey those very feelings.
David felt as though he was sinking in deep waters, but he started his prayer with four vitally important words for any man going through what feels like an impossible situation: “Save me, O God!”
There must have been some place within David that wondered if he was going to drown—figuratively anyway. But in the very midst of his distress, he remembered that his God was his only hope for deliverance.
When you’re in a place of human impossibility, a place where you feel like life is dragging you down for good, you’re in a place where God can do amazing things for you. Just remember those four important words. “Save me, O God!”
Prayer: Lord of all, I’m no stranger to the feelings today’s verse conveys. I sometimes feel like the cares of this world will swallow me up. And they would too, if not for Your promise to deliver me and preserve me through the most stressful of times.
