O LORD, be gracious to us; We have waited for You. Be their arm every morning, Our salvation also in the time of trouble. Isaiah 33:2 NKJV

After the rebuke of Judah, as well as the words of encouragement, in Isaiah 32, the people did exactly what they needed to do: cease looking to themselves or Egyptians for deliverance from a very real Assyrian threat and start looking to the Lord. Today’s scripture verse is a prayer confessing Judah’s longing for God and their plea for Him to be their strength and their salvation.

Many men have a difficult time confessing to any kind of weakness or neediness. We like to think of ourselves in terms of toughness and rugged individualism. But inside of every Christian man is a very real sense of weakness and need.

The Lord wants to hear from you when you feel spiritually weak, emotionally weak, even physically weak. And He wants to be your strength and the source of everything you so desperately need.

God is your strength and your source of encouragement, today and every day. So when you feel weak and overwhelmed, you can pray from your heart with Isaiah.

Prayer: Lord, be gracious to me; I long for You. Be my strength every morning, my salvation in time of distress.
