In order of IMPORTANCE what do pastors must look in a person who would like to serve?

I think it really depends on what ministry we are talking about here. For example, if you're going to serve as an usher, attitude is very very important. Calling doesn't really matter in this case because ushering isn't really a talent.

However, if someone wanted to be in the drama ministry, calling is very important. Not everyone is able to act, dance, sing, coordinate, express themselves in a way that glorifies God. Attitude is also very important, but if you have a great attitude, but you can't act, then you probably won't make it into the drama ministry.

Just a thought. God Bless!

God anoint people without seeing who they are or what their past is.

Take a look at Gideon, scared of his enemy, hiding in cave when God called him.

And Moses who was a murderer at first but then ends up to be the humble guy on earth.

So there is some thing we do not know about the call of God but I still say go for the Call.

But realistically I just don't understand calling without attitude and availability....Why would God use us if we don't have the attitude and the availability in the first place?

Blessings

I believe calling would be the #1 thing. People can have a good attitude and still do the work in vain, not for God.

I think attitude is most important; more specifically - a humble attitude. Without humility, one can't be a true servant, even if he/she is available and capable. As the saying goes, "God doesn't call the equipped, He equips the called."

My side of the story

I thing you first have to avail yourself to God that he use you inline with your calling. You can not realise you are called when you are not in the system, after the calling God will deal with your attitude. Without God we can can never have the right attitude, therefore God will work our attitude to suite the calling.

Thats what I think.

God picked some of the most unlikely people and used them in mighty ways. I believe that God chooses the man that is most emptied of himself. The servant of all.
