Who will humble themselves?

It so hard to admit we are wrong about something, how about lets us confess on this thread,, something at one time we thought about one way, and later we changed our minds. We wrong on the subject

For example true story,,, I once believed with all my heart and was 100% sincere in thinking God had to forgive my sins, just as long as I confessed them, I did not have to stop spinning, I just needed to confess them,, talk about a endless cycle with no freedom. I now know better.

How about you, what have learned that you were wrong about at first. I like to say some simply have to be revealed to us we can not really learn them.

How about you, what have learned that you were wrong about at first. I like to say some simply have to be revealed to us we can not really learn them.

1. In early years I thought I was born again because I believed, but later found the scriptures clearly taught that I believed because I had already been born from above, born anew or born again by the sovereign will of God.

2. I used to believe the notes in dispensationalist study Bibles, but later learned too many of those notes were difficult to hold when comparing them to scripture.

I could go on, but it would become embarrassing. I will state my theological views on some key issues that I have now held for over 30 years. I embrace a New Covenant theology and Particular Redemption. I consider myself a Particular Baptist holding to the First London Confession of Faith, finding it to be so squarely and solidly based on scripture. I'm one of the few in our day who holds to a partial preterist position in eschatology, and am inclined to the Postmillennial position, which I describe in the way John Gill describes "Spiritual Reign of Christ" in his Body of Divinity.

Even evil people deserve compassion, despite the evil they do. They are normally deceived in some way and if 99% of them knew the truth, they would repent. But they harden their hearts against the truth, because they truly want to believe that what they perceive as the truth is the truth. I used to want God to punish them or at least humble them severely. I have learned that despite my anger at the evil they do, I must pray for them, that they might be convicted and turn from their evil ways and join the brotherhood of the Kingdom of God. But its not easy, because God wants me to be a spiritual warrior, striking down evil, and because I have accepted that role, its often hard to pull back on the reins of me striking with my spiritual sword against evil people.
