Why are we here? Or, Why did God make us?

by Matt Slick

God made us so we could glorify Him and have fellowship with Him (1 John 1:1-3). He made Adam and Eve and put them in the garden, and then He walked in fellowship with them. He gave them the greatest thing they could have, His love and presence. After they sinned, God said, "Adam, where are you?" God sought Adam. In Exodus 25:8 God said to Moses while Israel was in the wilderness, "And let them construct a sanctuary for Me, that I may dwell among them."

In the New Testament in John 1:14 it says, "And the Word became flesh and dwelt (tabernacled) among us..." God seeks our presence. He wants to have fellowship with us. He made us to give us His love and enjoy His presence. But, man sinned and separated Himself from God. That is why Christ died for sins, that our fellowship with God would be restored.

Hello Chad,
this is the question that has plagued mankind for eons. your answer that God made us so that we can glorify him leaves me with a view of God who is vane in the extreme!
It also kinda side steps the quesiton, for the quesiton now becomes Why does God have a need to be glorified? Perhaps it is not vanity perhaps there is some other purpose why God had this need. Or perhaps (more likely) God doesnt have a need to be glorified. Perhaps Gods reason for creating us was so that God too could experience not being God through us. To move from the heavenly realm of the absolute to the mortal realm of the relative is what gives life this experience. It also does away with this notion of a punishing vain God but leaves God in his rightfull place of absolute pure love. Im sure this thread will continue.
GOd bless

Its all about how one defines "need". If you see need as any element that is essential to a person or thing's existence, the answer is that God has no such needs; He is self-sustaining.

It's the other definition of "need" - strong desire - that applies here. God's desire to be glorified is an expression of His great love, for when He is glorified, awareness of Him spreads and people are drawn to Him through His son Jesus (see Jn 14:6) to enjoy eternal life in His Kingdom.

For the sake of clarity I (and i suspect most people) would concur with your first definition of need. I have a strong desire for a Mercedes Benz but i certainly would not call it a need.

require (something) because it is essential or very important rather than just desirable: oxford dictionary.

Why are we here? Why did God make us?

...thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. Revelation 4:11

God is absolute perfection; we have no real concept of who he is in totality! We will, St. Paul says that some day we will see him "Face to Face" and know him perfectly; as well as he knows us.

Until that day, there is no value in us calling his pleasure vane, it serves no purpose. He is who he is and if he wants us for his pleasure as the Bible says, who are we to put a human spin on it!

He is Spirit and we must worship him in Spirit and Truth! He loved us enough to sacrifice his only begotten son and provide a path to perfection.

Lord have mercy on me and I praise you forever!

Angels are good but they've seen God face to face and only love Him because they fear Him and KNOW He exists. Many humans once knew God as well but the whole plan was for The Bible to be established and for people with their own personal experiences with God to come forth and speak, which is why God needed to speak with Humans at one point. This way, people aren't acting from fear but from love. Jesus said the most important commandment was to love God with all our heart and soul, I think God wants people who love Him but not from fear or because they've seen him face to face.

Honestly, I don't think we'll ever know until we meet God in person. All I know, is that God exists, I don't believe any more, I know. If I had to guess why he created us, I'd say it was because He wanted love. He has gained it. He gains everything. All need to bow down and worship him for he is great. He has saved me physically and had mercy on my soul and keeps forgiving me for sins I commit. For this reason, I seek to become his ultimate servant, even if it means that death will come for me and if I fail, I only hope I can be forgiven. I am not worthy to be in God's presence. No one is. But through God's love, he accepts us and forgives us and through Christ, we are united with God.

May glory be with King Jesus - The King of the world and may honour and praise and glory forever be with God.

God is in all of us and we are in him. He formed us with corrupted flesh during this generation of man so he could reveal the Word in his prophets, Jesus and us saints. By making everyone liars it was easier for us to keep following his spoken Word of truth until we became the Word. Then his knowledge could be revealed while we write and speak for him. This knowledge is needed for the next generation of flesh because we'll wake up in new adult bodies that won't have any memory.

This knowledge will guide us into forming new vocabulary words for a language and when we have it all together, then the rest of God's created people will be reborn into paradise. We'll teach them the new language. Eventually, all of God's people and other beings will be using their new immortal bodies and speaking the same language to each other.

This is when God will be alive in all things that he created and his creation will be in awe of who he is. This age of sinful flesh has hated him the whole time except for the few chosen ones who were created together as the Word. We are the only ones who can say we love the Lord with all our heart, mind and soul and love our neighbor as ourself. It's no concern to you sinners because the law states that the penalty of sin is death so as soon as you die, your penalty has been paid in full. You are saved from your sinful flesh and then remain in God until the next generation comes.

What spiritual gifts are from God and which are from men?

What spiritual gifts are from God and which are from men?

I am not too sure what your question is, for spiritual gifts comes from the Holy Spirit and not from man, which is impossible.
