I'm not sure if I'm placing this in the correct space, but here goes. My name is Melvin Walker. Friends just called me Walker. I'm 62, divorce and currently do not have a church home. I have been ordained as a deacon. But have left that church to look for another. I LOVE the LORD and my desire is to do HIS will. I found this group trying to find an answer to why I always cry when l sing Gospel. Which is what I want to do, but each time I try I cry. Weird? At funeral it's normal to see people cry. But I cry even when I don't have any relationship with the deceased, just watching the family and feeling their pain. Well this is me! A bucket of years. So singing, which I love to do, I cry so I can't. Praying, alone or with others, I cry. Get this, blessing a meal I have no problem. But when I talk with JESUS, here comes the tears. Don't mean to be so lengthy with this, just trying to understand...

Hi @Melvin Walker Greetings!

I believe it is the Holy Spirit that spoke to us in so many ways, is the reason. It’s just means that the Lord is speaking to you through a worship song and prayer. BUT that is a good thing though, when the Holy Spirit convict us and spoke to our hearts.

Hope and pray that you will find a church that you can have more fellowship with other believers.

Normally we associate "tears" with "sadness", but there are also tears of "Joy!"

Jer 31:9 Tears of joy will stream down their faces, and I will lead them home with great care. They will walk beside quiet streams and on smooth paths where they will not stumble. For I am Israel’s father, and Ephraim is my oldest child. (NLT)

The Bible tells us that God keeps all our tears in a "bottle"

Psa 56:8 You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book. (NLT)

Paul told Timothy......

2Ti 1:3 I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;
2Ti 1:4 Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;

Could it be that you have a deep well of unexpressed emotion inside you? When you pray or sing, something is released and the tears come.

The tears are a good thing. Keep singing and praying. Also reflect on the things that you've never given proper voice to before.

Greetings Walker,

You remind me of a dear Brother who has set sail for another shore.
He wept often. He was a musician and one thing i appreciated about his songs was that i knew he meant the words he wrote and sang about, concerning the Lord. Often he would play and sing all the more 'passionately' as tears welled up.

He would also be teary when talking or praying, and usually as he described God's love in conversation, which he liked doing more than anything else. We also enjoyed lots of happiness and fellowship without tears, though. He had been a heavy drinker and lived riotously, not righteously until the day he woke up and turned to the Lord.

Be encouraged that your heart is tender towards the Lord and ask and allow Him to minister to you in and through it. Also that He would grant you boldness to go beyond tears and with great conviction share with others His love and grace.

Bless you ....><>

Whether is be singing or coming to the Lord in total repentance tears can flow, it happened to me when I came to faith, every time I worshipped I cried.

I believe it is because at these times 'we truly open our heart' and our love for the Lord flows like a never ending stream.

When Jesus sets us free we are free indeed.

Thanks be to God.

John 8:30-36 (NKJV)
30 As He spoke these words, many believed in Him.
31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.
32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
33 They answered Him, "We are Abraham's descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can you say, 'You will be made free'?"
34 Jesus answered them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.
35 And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever.
36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

Bless you
