Hi, I'm David. This is my story on my journey from preacher-called Christian to atheist.

I grew up in Aberdeen, Maryland. My father was the pastor of the Bible Baptist Church in that area. I always thought I believed in god and loved Jesus.

I made a huge mistake. I became a Christian without reading the Bible. I started to read the Bible and could not believe the things I found. I found historical and scientific mistakes, math mistakes, contradictions, failed/fabricated priohecies and violation of human rights!

This is when I became shaken in my faith. I am gay and know I'm going to hell wheither or not I remain a CHRISTIAN!

I done research and couldn't find a single answer to my questions. ALL the other forums shunned me and the members contradicted itself. I DIDN'T know who or what to believe and concluded that the BIBLE was a work of fiction.

I'm a lot happier now. I am no longer in chains of the laws of the church and can finally be with the person I want to be with rather than the church telling me I can't be with the person I love because of X.

I'm David, and this is my story on how I left Christianity.

Is being gay any different than porn, or robbing banks, or adultery, or envy?? You just happen to choose gay, some choose the ski mask to go rob the next bank... It all ends bad.... real bad...

In the end, there is no excuse, because we all can have help to think like God, and power to live as we are... Not of this world...

Why did you not stand in faith and believe God like other gay men I have worked with??? It's not different than being addicted to porn and straight sex... we are told to avoid both. It's no different than wanting to commit adultery with another person. We all have things that constantly pull on our flesh...

You decided to justify it...... (Serial killers do the same) and meditate on it... You choose not to cast down those thoughts, your choice... I have worked with men that are addicted to having sex with little children... The pull is powerful, and strong... but bless God, they can also be delivered, and completly change their desire.. change to where it's not even a thought....

We are draw away and enticed by the lust of our wants and desires... You choose to follow feelings, and lust.... and feelings and lust are bad ways to make choices, even eternal choices.....

You complained about violation of human rights?? It's the following of peoples feelings and lust that cause other people grief..... your no different..

but I have news for you..... If you were really happy for the first time (Accepting your condition) you would not have posted here... God would not even been a blip on your radar... Your heart would have been cold, and dead... but yours is not... You said Jesus is not Lord.... No point in saying that unless some hurt and pain was not tied to that statement.. pain of being let down....
he is Lord, and you somewhere want him to be your Lord...... and if God was not dealing with you... I would not even be typing this.. Don't get to that place, where you can't come back.... please..

What a beautiful name, I must share with you after Jesus I love David from the bible. He was the only person God called a man after's his own heart. He was a great man, worshipper and song writer, at the same time was not perfect. I Always wanted to name my son David, but unfortunately I met a guy who needs a name change and not worthy to hold such a wonderful name. Beloved such beautiful meaning. My name does not have a meaning, so I gave myself the name rizen1.

Thank you for sharing your story and being brave enough to post it here. Why you posted it ? I do not know if I knew the answer would it change the way I respond to you ? No. I'm sorry when you were seeking answers you were shunned. This I'm sure have added to your unbelief. How can people who claim to worship a loving God not know how to show love. I call myself a disciple to rid the labels and stereotypes quote and quote "christians" get.

I totally agree here. The church can make you into "christian" by reciting some prayers but the new believer is not given enough to have a strong foundation, for when those taught questions arise. I'm grateful for not attending a traditional church ..act like this, dress like this and talk like this. My pastor would always tell us to go home and research what he said to see if he's in error. I wasn't forced into religion. I was taught religion is man made and relationship is what God wants. Religion was created to divide, enslave us and brainwash us. The unique thing about religion is that it's gives evidence of mans unconscious need to worship a spiritual being and their realization that something about them is not right. The need to get right with the universe. Man have always worshipped a god or gods, but it comes down to which god is the right one. The Bible is the only one that answers those questions of the beginning and the end. In the bible there's a solution to this madness and misery. Other religions there's no hope just self help ways to cope. The God of the bible gets my vote.

I'm hearing what you're saying but it's the common worldview and mantra used when people reject God or give up on religion. In most cases these people never read the whole bible. Yes there are some stories in the bible that makes you want to step back and wonder if it's fiction novel. But that's the thing it's filled with real life stories, war, murder , rape , death, sickness, slavery, poverty you name it. If the bible was filled with happy stories, bunnies and everything cute I would find it fiction. No civilization can say they lived a perfect life free from the stuff I listed above. Did you read the whole bible front to back ?
If yes.. send me a private message with those mistakes and fabrications.
If no... start reading and do so with an open mind and find a believer who is willing to answer your questions. There's a lot of historical artifacts that prove the stories of the bible.

I can't force you to believe, but I can ask God to help you with your unbelief. You didn't come here just to post and leave. You don't have anything to prove to us. You may have a motive or probably just needed to talk and be heard. What do you gain coming here and talking to strangers who you believe have nothing to offer ? Unless you're still seeking.

David, you boast now in self? You boast because you now feel free in sin? David Jesus did not come for us who are found,but rather those of us who are lost. What sin we used to live in is not the problem,how we have peace within ourselves now is.

We can, at will, turn the Word of God into anything we wish it to be,I sure used to! Please look at this from Jesus point of view rather then from those who condemn you. John 8:1-12 people who hold to there own doctrines of men can only see things from that view point.

Jesus has called us out of this, into love. verse 11 go and sin no more. If you did not believe you are in sin,you would have never come on here.We hear your crys for help,and we answer your crys with our own.

Without Jesus I am nothing,and without his love he gave unto us,all that we hold to him has no truth,for the only truth is to love oneanother even as Jesus first loved us in our sin!( 1 John 4:17-21)

I cast no stones at you! Matt 18:11 says Jesus came to save that which was lost,direction for us can be lost,because we look to self to find this direction! I sure know I did! Notice please in verse 21 Jesus is not asking us,he is commanding us! And so David with a humble heart,full of love from Jesus,I ask you to come unto him, who is able to take your pain away,for Jesus is the only one who can ever do this for any of us!

The freedom you now believe you have to sin,is a lie.( john 8:44)This lie comes from the father of all lies,and his sole purpose is to steal( john 10:10) from you the real truth you really have in you,given to you from the moment you first made Jesus Lord of your life.

Do not look back because it is easy to sin,go forward in Jesus,for in him is perfect love,and we who struggle ourselves in this,struggle because we dare to follow Jesus not men. blessing to you! we endure hardship( 2 tim 4:5), to obtain this promise in Jesus!! 2 Tim 4:18 My the Lord's wisdom reach your heart,and break you from your bondage in Jesus name amen!!

I am praying for you David. Not because you are sinful!!But rather because you are no longer a slave to sin, you have been called a friend to God!!( john 15:15-17!! Let this truth in Jesus set you free in him!( john 8:31-32) amen

John 10:18 All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them.

This is the problem Jesus had to deal with.
Maybe the issue is that you know his voice but haven't heard it yet.I'm afraid most who came after him are also.I am not fully persuaded you can go to hell my friend.

Consider this:

Eph. 2:1 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins,
Eph 2:2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this
world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.

You were already dead when you first believed you came alive.

Eph 2:5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions
Col 2:12 Having been buried with him in baptism and raised with him through your faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead.
Eph 2:6 And hath raised [us] up together, and made [us] sit together in heavenly [places] in Christ Jesus.

Hath raised means already happened,if you could lose this new life on and off you would experience multiple deaths.According to Col 2 :!2 your already resurrected from the dead into life.


Born again,sealed with the Spirit,bought with a price and saved all really mean the same thing.A new life started in heaven and coming down from heaven.

That's why if you willingly walk away from this gift there remains no sacrifice seeing we can't re-crucify Christ.

Since you believed once your still there,your just bored.

What others do have affected your faith. Christianity is not about following rules and being chained up. It's about freedom thanks to Christ. So people say you're wrong, you're stupid for being gay, you've probably been called names and trust me I know what it's like to be shunned and ridiculed for the things you do... when... it's funny... God tells us to be loving. It seems strange that so many Christians I've seen EVEN here in my OWN town judge me because I don't go to church with them.

The fact is friend, do not what anyone here on earth tells you. Follow nothing anyone here says. Follow GOD. Seek GOD. I mean something in you has to be. Most people who really "seperate" from God won't post something on a Christian internet forum... it's a sign you are still reaching out. Well, reach out to God. Of COURSE we humans can't answer your questions! We're humans! GOD can answer ALL you want!

And friend, you can't pray and expect it to happen when you want it or how you want it. God doesn't work that way. If we do what He wants, He gives us what He knows we need.

I hope you read this, but more, I pray God reaches out to you and you seek Him.

You may have prayed to God with the wrong motive. You may have prayed to God for him to heal of your desire, but deep down inside you may have still wanted to continue to practice that lifestyle.

If you read the Bible, it's crystal clear that homosexuality is a sin and those who are practicing will not inherit the kingdom of God. Praying to God has a lot to do with your motive. Here is a scripture which really nails this.

James 4:3 - When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.

The bottom line you can't expect God to instantly deliver you from something you've been practicing for years, despite the fact that you know it was wrong in the first place. Look, if you are willing to observe what the Bible has to say about temptation and how to control your thinking there is not a single sin that you can not walk away from.

Hey David,

Judging by what you have posted, God didn't take your homosexuality from you because you wouldn't let Him. It's something that you have to be willing to fight, and you obviously didn't really want to.

I find it interesting that you seem to at least realize that your sins separate you from God, when many people who call themselves Christians do not realize it. Jesus died to pay for sin, though, and if you aren't willing to let yours go—you're right, He can't help you.

But it is your choice to give up on God. For now. If you came here hoping that you could find someone to talk to, someone to help you, there seems to be some pretty decent people here. I haven't been here long at all, myself, but you should consider giving it a shot.

You are going to find bad apples everywhere, especially in the "Christian" world. Many of them act as though they are better than others, as though "claiming" the name of Jesus gives them authority to judge and criticize those outside of their church/group. And they have their reward.

I have been studying those same "contradictions/errors", that are in the Bible, for many years now. They are what have caused us to have so many denominational differences. I've come up with some pretty good answers for many of them. If you ever come back here, throw us the ten most difficult, and let us see what we can come up with; it could make for some interesting threads. Be honest though, David, did you actually spend enough time reading through the Bible to find these "errors" on your own, or did you search the internet to discover them? If you found them on the internet( I'm just curious ) were you looking for them?
