I have heard that question here a while back. And after thinking on it, why not.

Why not us be open to those God choses. Because the life of God's servants are lonely. They may not be understood, but they are our brothers and sisters in Jesus.

So let us , at least be open to recieve

Because as a Prophet, your business in the Kingdom of God is to restore others!! ( Gal 6:1-5) And this is just one reason!
Yes that is true, it is what a prophet is called to.

Even when you look at the many prophets Old and New Testiments. The bottom line, to bring the children back to God.

Even all the craziness of Moses, the miracles, Commandments and all the years in the desert. The bottom line, to bring Gods children back to God.

We Christians are all prophets in our own lives....What we speak is what we'll get....I know I know Most of you will disagree but it is in the Word.

How would anybody know if he has encountered a "New Testament" Prophet or not> A New Testament Prophet is not the same as a "Old Testament" Prophet.

If you notice by your OLD TESTAMENT READING, When The Old testament Prophet came on the scene. Look out, They had a message of coming Doom! from the hand of GOD!

This is how He applied it, "I will bless with this If you do this", But if you don't do what i tell you to do, i am going to do this to you" So in the day I do this to you, you are going to Know I am GOD! I am not going to kill all of you, but I am going to save SOME of you in Captivity, to be a witness.:eyes: a Remnant according to Grace.
When was the last time many have read about "Samuel, Nathan, Amos, Nahum, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Elijah, Elisha, Micah, Obadiah, Micah, John the baptist, John of Patmos, Jonah, Ezekiel, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Hosea, Joel, Zechariah and Malachi. And God Had more.

Those Prophets had "If's and but's and when you do" in their messages! They were Prophets of impending DOOM! Most people did not want to see a "Prophet" of GOD come on the scene! Dooms day! "Did not i tell you" if you didn't do what i told you"!:worried: They tell Him to go away, we want a "Prophet that tells us good things" We want the "Prosperity Prophet"! and don't call Jesus either, for He also has a lot of "If's" and buts in His Prophecies too:worried:

So How can you tell or do anyone know what a New Testament Prophet is? Is He a Prosperity or a Prophet of Impending Doom? Or is He a "fortuneteller"or clairvoyance.. Because the Letter to the Hebrews, said this;

(Hebrews)BSB
1On many past occasions and in many different ways, God spoke to our fathers through the prophets. 2But in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom He made the universe.…

I know what Plough Boy is saying , and everyone is right to say . We are all prophets of God. Just as we are all called to be witnesses. But there is a significant difference from being prophets and being The Prophet, or from being witnesses and being one of The Two Witnesses. To a specific calling and the calling that may cause fear in many

Amen! Prophets abound in the world today.

But not like the prophets of the OT. One main chosen human that is the warning to the people of God, perhaps 2. God uses that or those 2 prophets for the bulk of the major prophesying.

But for NT, there is still prophets, its right there in scripture, the gifts of the Holy Spirit still burn bright in His people, at least some people. Its just that most prophets now dont deal with the whole church, like Paul or the twelve. But God still sends msgs to his people on a more limited basis through the prophets, perhaps only to one person sometimes, but if a msg is given by God to one believer , its STILL a prophetic msg. That person is "one of God's messengers". So many want to disparage the minor prophets of today, and call them heretics to their own demise (not as in death like aninias, but in troubles that start due to the discipline of God, although sometimes it might end up in death, thats up to God). Its one reason many want nothing to do with being a prophet, and their attitude will often keep God from using them that way.

A prophet speaks what will be....as well as a long list of other things....
Mark 11:23-24 (KJV)

23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

Before you bring up an argument for this, look at John 14:12

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

Prophesy is not a super great work...at least not greater than what Jesus did.

Admon A Prophet, never calls all people that believe are one though. You are stating one of the works of a prophet. And I sure agree with John 14:12!!! HE WHO BELIEVES! Correct!! If one believes for whatever that they are a prophet, they would never have to tell others. ( Prov 27:2) 2 Cor 10:11-12) and verse 18!! Hope this helps. No argument with me.One can believe as they choose to!!

LOL Based on these two scriptures and others throughout the bible from start to stop....a prophet does not only minister to others...but also to himself...When David encouraged himself "Bless the Lord, Oh my soul, bless His Holy name" He was encourageing himself as a prophet in his own life....Many many examples throughout the Word.

Sorry for the above post...I don't know how I did that.

When i look at the 2 types of prophets. The one that Paul talks of when speaking of the Gifts of the Spirit, and the other type, the person called by God to be His chosen Prophet.

There are some similarities, both are to build up, and to be protectors of the ' Church ' , or us , the Children of God. They are both " expected " to be the best they can be with the Gifts that are given them.

Even when we look at the Witnesses, those of the world will dread them. But they are also part of the Children of God, our brothers

So, you, as a prophet to yourself, are the first type...You are part of the church? You speak the Word of God to yourself? You stand against the enemy using the sword of the Word? Like a prophet? Yup You are a prophet in your own life.
