So she did as Elijah said, and she and Elijah and her family continued to eat for many days. There was always enough flour and olive oil left in the containers, just as the LORD had promised through Elijah. 1 Kings 17:15-16 NLT

What did the widow have in mind as a solution to her need for food? Perhaps she was so full of despair over her family’s needs that she couldn’t think of a way out. Did she expect Elijah to help her? In her moment of desperation, Elijah offered a solution that required faith to trust God each day. Would the containers continue to be full each day? Would God come through?

Perhaps you are seeking God’s provision right now, but are you ready to receive what He offers? What if God sends just what you need for today? Will it be enough?

The solution God sends may still require living by faith, trusting that He will show up at the start of yet another day. Praying for “daily bread” each day may get old. It may appear less than ideal in the moment, but it will benefit your faith over the long term. Your ability to endure challenges and uncertainty will grow as you learn to trust God day in and day out.

Prayer: God, I trust that You can provide what I need for today and that my faith will grow as You care for me.
