II Corinthians 5
3 If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.
4 For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened:
not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.

Hello @High Premise,

Yes, I shall be clothed upon with life, when this mortal puts on immortality, and this corruption puts on in-corruption, at the resurrection from among the dead. For my life is hid with Christ in God, and when He appears in glory, I too, along with all the members of the Body of Christ will appear with there (Colossians 3:4)

That's the prevailing sentiment among the masses in christianity, the problem is, you're dismissing II Cor 5:4 -
4 For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened:
not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.

You're placing Life into the future, discounts "Not for that we would be unclothed" - in other words, not that we should die physically.

I think you are misunderstanding me. For we in this earthly tabernacle (our natural body) do indeed 'groan'. However that does not mean that we want to be 'unclothed' in death, Oh no! For we look to the resurrection out from among the dead, at which time we will receive our 'house from heaven', and be clothed upon by life.

That possibility was what Paul hoped for, and what you and I hope for today. However, that will require the appearing and return of Christ, and during the Acts period that depended on the repentance of Israel (Acts 3:18-21 ), which did not occur. So you and I, will be 'unclothed' awaiting being clothed upon of life at the resurrection of the dead, if our Lord does not appear before our deaths take place.

I hope this makes sense, I am sorry not to have been clearer in my earlier post.

You were clear, no haze in understanding your interpretation, which falls in line with the prevailing ideology of christianity - Who are "more at home in the body(Flesh), and absent from the Lord (The Spirit).
You must understand the Kingdom is within (Lk 17:21), and this is where mortality is swallowed up from, IF you don't remain "at home in the body" - or "walking and living after the flesh" - Rom 8:1 and 13.

The Kingdom of God will come down out of Heaven to the Earth, it is a physical reality.

In Luke 17:21 the Lord was talking to the Pharisees, who sought to kill Him, do you honestly think He is telling them that the kingdom was within them? No! He was telling them that the kingdom was indeed 'within' or 'among' them then, if they only had eyes to see it, and ears to hear. For He, their King was present with them. There could be no kingdom without the presence of the King.

The word the Lord preached was, 'The time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God is at hand,: repent ye, and believe the gospel'. They would not repent, they would not believe. so the Kingdom is now in abeyance.

Yes, I always spiritualize the Bible. I prefer the spiritual interpretation rather than the carnal-minded or unspiritual interpretation.
You see, it's "Christ in you the hope of Glory" - Col 1:27, not Christ outside of you.
Most are looking for Jesus outside themselves, which is why Jesus continued in Luke 17:23:
"They shall say 'Lo Here and Lo There' believe them NOT nor follow them"

"..be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;" - Colossians 1:9

The carnal mind is death, the spiritual mind is life and peace - Romans 8:6
For you see, "The mind of Christ" in I Cor 2:16 is a spiritual mind, not a carnal mind.
 
2Tim 2:15; Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a worker who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.
2Tim 2:16; But avoid worldly and empty chatter, for it will lead to further ungodliness,
2Tim 2:17; and their talk will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus,
2Tim 2:18; men who have gone astray from the truth, claiming that the resurrection has already taken place; and they are jeopardizing the faith of some.

Another example of Christians who have fell by the wayside.
But the resurrection hasn't taken place yet. The resurrection is not something that happens individually to each person, it is a global thing that happens to everyone at the same instant.

John 5:28; Do not be amazed at this; for a time is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear His voice,
John 5:29; and will come out: those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the bad deeds to a resurrection of judgment.

2nd Timothy was written around 100AD. The resurrection hadn't taken place, and it still hasn't taken place yet today.

1Cor 15:35; But someone will say, “How are the dead raised? And with what kind of body do they come?”

This passage goes on to talk about the difference between the spiritual and physical bodies, but the spiritual body isn't given until the physical body dies.

Praise God! Yes, Christ 'in us' is our hope of Glory, I agree. We are in Him, and He is in us. However, I do not believe that Luke 17:23 is referring to this. Spiritual understanding is the blessed portion of all who have received the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord, and as they grow in grace and truth and in the knowledge of Him it increases.

You have a 'carnal mind' and you have the mind of the spirit also. For you have the new nature which we receive when we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. To deny that we are a combination of both flesh and spirit is to deny the very teaching of Scripture.

Has Jesus called you to "live after the flesh"?
Most do anyway, which is why they are "Found Naked" and die.
They have no manifestation of the Glory.
No "putting on the Lord Jesus Christ" for them (Romans 13:14).

The Mind of Christ is an Immortal Mind, not the Mortal Mind of Adam.
Which is why Romans 12:2 states "Be transfigured by the renewing of your mind".

The natural man receives not the things of the Spirit - I Cor 2:14.
That certainly is true in the Nominal Christian Community.

Reminds me of John 11:25-27 and how Martha avoided the question of Jesus and answered it in another way:



25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

27 She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.

Jesus is the RESURRECTION and Jesus Christ is Now. However, if you're not "growing up into him", you'll be "Found Naked".
No Glory - Ichabod.

Of course not, there is no death in Jesus, especially for those who "grow up into Him in all things" - Eph 4:15.
I prefer to become a "partaker of the divine nature and escape the corruption ( physical death) that is in the world through lust" - II Peter 1:4

Mind-blowing isn't it? - to the "carnal mind which is death" - Romans 8:6
Always best to not hangout with the decomposing mortals content with physical death.

1Cor 15:51 Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
15:52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed.
15:53 For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality.

Oh I so look forward to that new body. No more arthritis. thumbs up

So you're currently not "putting on the Lord Jesus Christ" (Rom 13:14) ? - who is the "King Immortal" (I Tim 1:17).
You're not, "fighting the good fight of faith, laying hold on the life of the ages, unto which you were called" ? - I Tim 6:12
So on and so forth . .

Have you ever heard the whole verse of I Tim 6:12 quoted?
Usually you just hear 'fight the good fight' - good fight of what?
Overcoming death.

Those who 'die' 'unsaved' are already dead but appear to be living. One doesn't have to go far to notice that.

perhaps even the ones who 'spiritualise' things can miss the mark?
