Wisdom
- June 09, 2005

An almost overwhelming number of radio and TV talk shows are on the air with advice. Daily people like Oprah, Montel, and Dr. Phil are on American television while Rush, Bruce, James, Laura, and numerous others share on radio. You can get advice about politics, personal relationships, weight loss, fitness, food, child rearing, and finance - all for free! Some of the advice is worth what you paid for it, while some is priceless.

Despite all the "wisdom" available, people don't seem to be acting any wiser. The foolishness of man is becoming more evident.

Proverbs, in the Bible, is best known for the vast amount of timeless wisdom it contains. Proverbs 16 is especially rich in content and verse 3 is one of the key thoughts of the Bible, "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed." All success is based on what part God has in your plans and how you have sought Him for wisdom.

Do you seek to know what God wants you to know? Read the wisdom in His Book. Try reading one chapter of Proverbs each day with the chapter corresponding to the date. If you get behind, just pick up on that day's date and go on.

God wants you to know His wisdom. It's in His book.

Contributed by Michael Ullrich Michael has served in pastoral ministry since 1979. His weekly devotional column appears in numerous newspapers, magazines and online publications, as well as on his Web site. He and his wife, Bonita, have seven children.

God wants you to know His wisdom. It's in His book. Amen!

Job 15:8 Hast thou heard the secret counsel of God? And dost thou limit wisdom to thyself?

Job 12:16 With him is strength and wisdom: the deceived and the deceiver are his.

You are RIGHT.

:boy_hug: For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence. But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 1:17-31

I read like crazy and talk among all of you about this, and still feel like I know nothing. lol.

LOL! Nice to know I`m not alone Soldier! It feels like the more
I read, and study, the less I know!
But I can say I have learned some awesome lessons in God`s presence,
alone with Him, when there are no other voices to drown out
the voice of the Spirit! Sometimes its good to lay down
the books, shut out all the noise, and the things that clamour for
our attention, and listen to what He has to say.
I believe God is always desiring to talk to us, and He loves to
impart the riches of His wisdom to us if we but ask!

Come unto me... and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. Mat 11:28
