An almost overwhelming number of radio and TV talk shows are on the air with advice. Daily people like Oprah, Montel, and Dr. Phil are on American television while Rush, Bruce, James, Laura, and numerous others share on radio. You can get advice about politics, personal relationships, weight loss, fitness, food, child rearing, and finance - all for free! Some of the advice is worth what you paid for it, while some is priceless.
Despite all the "wisdom" available, people don't seem to be acting any wiser. The foolishness of man is becoming more evident.
Proverbs, in the Bible, is best known for the vast amount of timeless wisdom it contains. Proverbs 16 is especially rich in content and verse 3 is one of the key thoughts of the Bible, "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed." All success is based on what part God has in your plans and how you have sought Him for wisdom.
Do you seek to know what God wants you to know? Read the wisdom in His Book. Try reading one chapter of Proverbs each day with the chapter corresponding to the date. If you get behind, just pick up on that day's date and go on.
God wants you to know His wisdom. It's in His book.
Contributed by Michael Ullrich Michael has served in pastoral ministry since 1979. His weekly devotional column appears in numerous newspapers, magazines and online publications, as well as on his Web site. He and his wife, Bonita, have seven children.
