I am giving a hoot and a hollar shout out to the One and Only, Holy God the Father for his wonderful mercy, love in chastening and faithfulness in giving.

I'll start with some scripture. Proverbs 6:16-19 There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.

I have lied, and have repented for it, over and over it seems. I repent and ask the Lord to show me the way to overcome this unholy act - the tongue is an unruly member and like a steering wheel to the body. I pray and have asked Him to give me that holy fear of the Lord, over and over. I want it to be from above and not from within or from across - a genuine fear of the Lord.

God has taught me through His chastening of me and thru His faithfulness in giving good gifts, that (at least) one root cause of lying - and must be in my case, is that I don't fear God more than these other things. What I am saying is that I am idol worshipping those things or people's perception or my pride more than the living God! Thank you God for your mercifulness, forbearance and patience!

For example, I could fear being humiliated or feeling ashamed for what I have done or haven't done - and cover it up with a lie - disobeying the word of the Lord, as Jesus says in Mat 10:28 Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. I could want to look competent when I am really not - and mask my true shortcomings with a lie - :(.

I really need to slow down my speaking to such a speed that allows for God to work through them and not be fearful of the outcome! James 1:19 Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger;

My relationship with the Lord has allowed me to teach my daughter about lying as she recently told me a story where she lied. I was able to sleep on her story and present to her a way out and a reason why someone does lie. This reminds me of the judge not words of Jesus as he said in Mat 7:5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

Praise the Almighty God!
In the name of Jesus!
Amen.
