Don't be scabby!
'Physician, heal yourself!...' Luke 4:23
In the Old Testament, a priest couldn't serve in God's house if he had a scab. Why? Because when you've a scab you're a health risk. We all have 'scabs'. It could be some pain in your life or an issue you haven't dealt with that still hurts. If you went to the doctors, and he tried to see to you while he had a huge gaping, bleeding, oozy cut on his head, you wouldn't really listen to what he was saying, would you? You'd think he needed to sort himself out first, before he sorted you. It's the same with you when you're witnessing to your friends, and working for God.
It's hard to help your mates sort out emotional issues, when you've still got unresolved issues from the past. It's hard to talk about victory, and complete forgiveness to others, when you feel defeated by an old issue. Now, that doesn't mean you can't work for God if you have issues - completely the opposite in fact - often the broken become the best at mending. But you do need to be at least dealing with your issues not ignoring them. It's not wrong to have a wounded heart, but it is wrong not to deal with it.
So spend some time with God and let Him heal you and make you whole, so you can be more effective in your mission to others.
