Spiders (4) -Grease is the word!
'THE SPIDER SKILLFULLY GRASPS WITH ITS HANDS, AND IS IN KINGS' PALACES.' PROVERBS 30:28
Q: How come if you walk into a spiders web, it sticks to you like glue; gets stuck in your hair, on your clothes, everywhere, but a spider can walk across its web and not get stuck?
A: Oil! A spiders suction-cup feet seep out greasy oil with every step, so it glides through stuff others can't survive or get bogged down in.
Sometimes life can seem a bit like the toughest army obstacle course. There are things to catch you out everywhere, walls you don't think you'll ever get over. It can look impossible at first glance; it may even be that even church feels like that to you now and then. That's when we can look at the spider for advice!
You need to be continually greased with the oil of God's Spirit! That's what'll help you just glide on through what could be really sticky situations. Everyone's always telling you that fat is bad for you, well that may be so but God's oil is good!
The psalmist got his strength from God in the same way: 'But you have made me as strong as an ox. You have poured fine oils on me' (Psalm 92:10 NCV). So before you leave home every morning get down on your knees and pray, 'God, give me fresh oil.'
