“There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
The holy dwelling places of the Most High.
God is in the midst of her, she will not be moved;
God will help her when morning dawns.
The nations made an uproar, the kingdoms tottered;
He raised His voice, the earth melted.
The Lord of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our stronghold. Selah.” (Psalm 46:4-7 NASB1995)

Those of genuine faith in Christ Jesus are his holy habitation, the city of God. God dwells within the hearts and lives of those who have been crucified with Christ in death to sin and raised with Christ to walk in newness of life in him, no longer as slaves to sin, but now as slaves to God and to his righteousness (see Romans 6:1-23). God is in our midst. God is our help and our strength when the nations rage and kingdoms totter, which they are tottering one by one. But the Lord of hosts is with us, and the God of Jacob is our fortress.

And why are the nations tottering (staggering, floundering, blundering)? What came to mind was this passage of Scripture in Revelation 18:2-5:

“And he cried out with a mighty voice, saying, ‘Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great! She has become a dwelling place of demons and a prison of every unclean spirit, and a prison of every unclean and hateful bird. For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the passion of her immorality, and the kings of the earth have committed acts of immorality with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich by the wealth of her sensuality.’

“I heard another voice from heaven, saying, ‘Come out of her, my people, so that you will not participate in her sins and receive of her plagues; for her sins have piled up as high as heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities.’” (Revelation 18:2-5 NASB1995)

They totter because they do not honor God for who he is, but they chart their own course, and they walk their own way, and they do their own thing. And even many who profess faith in Jesus Christ with their lips, and many “church” congregations, too, are in their midst, who are following the ways of the world, and of the flesh, and of sinful and wicked and immoral desires. And so many people today, including many who say they are Christians, are living in addiction to immorality, sensuality, adultery, and sexual idolatry.

And their sins are piled high up as heaven, because they have continued on this course of idolatry, adultery, sexual immorality and other sinful practices which separate them from God, and from salvation from their sin, and from the hope of eternal life with God. But we are not to be partakers with her, “her” including the idolatrous and adulterous “church” of today which is being marketed to the world, and thus they have altered the character of God, of his church, and of his gospel, in order to appease human flesh.

But we are to come out of her so that we will not participate with her in her sins and in her punishment. And this includes coming out from these man-made idolatrous market-driven “churches” which are not the church, the body of Christ, but which are businesses being marketed to the world, and so they have altered the character of God and of his gospel and of his church because they are trying to “draw in large crowds from the world” into their gatherings, and they do not want to offend them with the truth of God.

[Matthew 21:12-13; John 2:13-17; Acts 5:27-32; 2 Corinthians 6:14-18; Philippians 3:18-19; Revelation 2-3; Revelation 13:5-8; Revelation 18:1-5]

But God is with those who are with him, by God-gifted faith in him, which is not of human flesh, but which is persuaded of God as to his holiness and righteousness, and of our sinfulness, and of the necessity that we now die with Christ to sin, and that we now walk (in conduct, in practice) according to his commandments (New Covenant), by the grace and in the power of God. And he will keep us from the evil one, and he will direct us in the way that we should go, but we must then follow him in his ways and do his will.

Seek the Lord

An Original Work / July 20, 2012
Christ’s Free Servant, Sue J Love
Musical Instrumentation by Mark Bradley
Based off Isaiah 55

“Come to Me all you who thirst; come to waters.
Listen to Me, and eat what’s good today,
And your soul will delight in richest of fare.
Give ear to Me, and you will live.
I have made an eternal covenant with you.
Wash in the blood of the Lamb.”

Seek the Lord while He may be found; call on Him.
Let the wicked forsake his way, in truth.
Let him turn to the Lord, and he will receive mercy.
Freely, God pardons him.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,”
declares the Lord, our God.

“My word that goes out of My mouth is truthful.
It will not return to Me unfulfilled.
My word will accomplish all that I desire,
And achieve the goal I intend.
You will go in joy and be led forth in peace.
The mountains will burst into song… before you,
And all of the trees clap their hands.”
