Jesus said to her, "Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. "You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. "But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. John 4:21-23 NKJV

Are you the kind of worshipper God seeks? In today’s scripture passage, Jesus tells a Samaritan woman that God seeks those who would worship Him “in spirit and in truth.” That, He told her, is what true worship is all about.

When you think of the word worship, your mind may be tempted to go to what you do at church before the preacher delivers the sermon. And while those things are legitimate forms of worship, you can safely conclude that Jesus had something more in mind here.

The kind of worship God loves most is the worship that comes from a heart focused solely on Him. It’s not just the kind of worship you do at church, but also the worship you offer Him every day—as you love Him with every part of your being and as you surrender yourself fully to Him.

Prayer: Loving Father, may I worship You with every part of my being. May I live a life of fully surrendered love and worship for You.

We are warned very clearly what is the wrong type of worship

Isaiah 29:13 (NIV2011)
The Lord says: “These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught.

Matthew 15:7-9 (NIV2011)
You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you:
These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.
They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.’”

Jesus declared, ‘Believe me, woman, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem.’

Jesus has opening the door for all to worship God, through Him, anywhere. Worship is no longer to be localized in a sacred place. This includes the temple, church buildings, Jerusalem, the Church of the Nativity, the church of the Holy Sepulchre, Jerusalem, Rome, etc, etc. This does not mean it is wrong to worship in churches (kuriakon), cathedrals, etc, but to think that one’s worship of God is more acceptable in such places, or that we are closer to God in these places, is to deny the truth of Jesus’ teaching.

Worship is I believe, heartfelt gratitude to God and for all Jesus did and went through for us. To many people think the place to worship is a church building and once they walk out, having a top up of the spirit, that is it till next Sunday. Worship is expressed in many ways and when truly born again is with us 24/7/365. We have an intimate relationship with our creator, through our Saviour and Lord.

Psalm 100:1-5 (NIV2011)
1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
2 Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.
3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.
5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.

We enter His gates with thanksgiving, not by going to church, but by throwing open the doors of our heart, where ever we are.

This hymn guides our hearts in worship, there are so many more, wonderful words.

O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness!
Bow down before him, his glory proclaim;
with gold of obedience, and incense of lowliness,
kneel and adore him: the Lord is his Name!

Where ever we are!

The Holy Spirit is in our heart the moment we are born again, linking us to the Father through Jesus Christ out Lord, it is an intimate relationship, where Christ abides in us, and we in Him, we do not have to be in a church building to experience it, Christ has thrown the doors wide so we can Praise Him and Worship Him anywhere.

Jesus has set us free to be free indeed.

Praise the Lord.

Bless you brother

Hi Nick

Being considerably deaf I do struggle to hear so the sub title were a big help. That said the man has a good deep voice which helps me, squeaky men or women's voices can be an issue. The background singers drown it a bit for me but, it was a true blessing my friend, it lifts our heart in Praise and thanksgiving.

I have always loved Psalm 100, I like the way the psalms before it gradually bring us to this Psalm, then the gates of our hearts are thrown open, wide open brother.

To God be the Glory, Jesus is Lord, we give thanks, as we worship You Father with every part of our being, in Jesus Precious Name we Pray. Amen.
