Wounded Heart - Where is my Refuge?

I wandered away from the love of my Lord
Beckoned by charm
And sweet honeyed words....

Come trust me
Trust me I am here
Come trust me, O yes
There's no need to fear

I'll slowly pick at the wounds in your heart
I'll balm them with sweetness
I'll lure you more
And then when your heart
Painful bleeding ,so raw
Is tortured in agony
I'll be here no-more

I'll leave you to fester
To waste in your pain
And then when your broken
Sweetly I'll tempt you again

Feeling so empty
So lost with despair
So broken for trusting, the cruel hand of false care
Where is my refuge?
O where can I fly?
And then through my grief
The blessed cross looms so high

Dear Saviour, O Jesus forgive me I pray
For running from Thee
For turning away
Nothing, O nothing can satisfy me
Than your sweet beautiful love, so true and so free
The worlds empty promises, nothing but dross
Keep me, forever keep me
At the foot of Your cross

This was my night of sorrow....healed by His love
My prayer, my longing, my reason for living.....may it only and forever be Jesus...for ever Him, nothing else. He must increase I must decrease.

Julia

From whence cometh my help...My help cometh from the Lord. Which made heaven and earth
Psalm 121:1,2

Jesus Christ, the same yesterday and today and forever
Hebrews 13:8

He is altogether lovely. This is my beloved and this is my friend

Julia that was beautiful...

I read the most incredible portion in scripture last evening...reading the book of Hosea in the GNB translation...opened my eyes a little more to Gods amazing love for his people...and broke my heart a little more for such love that we all have spurned...

Hos 11:1 The LORD says, "When Israel was a child, I loved him and called him out of Egypt as my son.
Hos 11:2 But the more I called to him, the more he turned away from me. My people sacrificed to Baal; they burned incense to idols.
Hos 11:3 Yet I was the one who taught Israel to walk. I took my people up in my arms, but they did not acknowledge that I took care of them.
Hos 11:4 I drew them to me with affection and love. I picked them up and held them to my cheek; I bent down to them and fed them.
Hos 11:5 "They refuse to return to me, and so they must return to Egypt...

Hos 2:14 So I am going to take her into the desert again; there I will win her back with words of love.... (what beautiful words of love and forgiveness spoken by our Lord!)
Hos 2:15 I will give back to her the vineyards she had and make Trouble Valley a door of hope. She will respond to me there as she did when she was young, when she came from Egypt.
Hos 2:16 Then once again she will call me her husband---she will no longer call me her Baal.

Dear sister Coconut

Thank you for those beautiful scriptures...they are infact so personally appropriate to this poem.

I went through a night of sorrow that led to writing this poem. Through that night the Lord spoke to my heart through a verse in Hosea.

How shall I give thee up....Hosea 11:8

And how then my heart then burst not with sorrow but tears of joy... renewed in the knowledge that the Lord will never ever abandon His children.

God bless you sister

Julia

I found Him whom my soul loveth: I held Him and would not let Him go.
Solomons Song 3:4

Sister

yeah pammie ur ryt. poetry is where you can find the strongest and the weakest emotion a person have. me too love to write different poems.

Many waters cannot quench love. Neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of His house for love. It would utterely be contemned. Solomon's Song 8:7

I was thinking of the comments about this poem being beautiful...thank you kindly.

But it made me think of the source of true beauty...our Beloved Lord Jesus Christ. He alone can turn the ugliest, most despairing situation into one of beautiful love, joy and peace. It is only by being utterly abandoned to Him that we can experience the delights of His love.
Self lowered at His cross, only ever gazing up at Him, longing for more and more of His heavenly blessings of love.

O to be nothing, nothing
Only to lie at His feet
A broken and emptied vessel
For the Masters use made meet
Emptied that He might fill me
As forth in His service I go
Broken that so unhindered
His life through me might flow

O to be nothing, nothing
Painful the humbling may be
Yet low in the dust I'd lay me
That the world my Saviour might see
Rather be nothing, nothing
To Him let our voices be raised
He is the fountain of blessing
He only is meet to be praised.

Wherein hast Thou loved us Malachi 1:2

Yea I have loved thee with an everlasting love Jeremiah 31:3

May we all sink only into His arms of love...the only place ever worth being

They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.

He that goeth forth and weepeth,
bearing precious seed,
shall doubtless come again with rejoicing,
bringing his sheaves with him.

Psalm 126:5-6

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28

O weary, battered, beaten soul.... O find your love in Him
The seasons of His love, they pass us by...
And leave us closer.... ever closer to The one we know as King
My child He saith.... draw near to Me.... do not tarry by the way
Let Me give you all you long for...
and turn your darkest night to day.

The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

Psalm 19:7-10

O soul who longs for more of Him... see sunshine... see grace... His love resides within...

Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
Psalm 42:11

For all this I considered in my heart even to declare all this, that the righteous, and the wise, and their works, are in the hand of God: no man knoweth either love or hatred by all that is before them.
Ecclesiastes 9:1

We do not always know every turn upon the Way, but we can have confidence in Him... that we never stray.... yes... He shall never sleep who loves His own... and even things that seem all bad.... are signposts to His throne.

The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
John 3:8

Bless you ....><>

Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Matthew 5:8

He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.
Psalm 147:3.

I have just read Spurgeons beautiful sermon....Healing for the Wounded and thought the words would fit nicely into this thread.

The mighty God will not despise
The contrite heart for sacrifice;
The deep-fetched sigh, the secret groan,
Rises accepted to the throne.

He meets, with tokens of His grace,
The trembling lip, the blushing face;
His bowels yearn when sinners pray;
And mercy bears their sins away.

When filled with grief, o'erwhelmed with shame;
He, pitying, heals their broken frame;
He hears their sad complaints, and spies
His image in their weeping

Believe, O troubled one, that He is able to save thee unto the uttermost, and thou shalt not believe in vain.
Now, in the silence of your agony, look unto Him who by His stripes healeth thee.
Jesus Christ has suffered the penalty of thy sins, and has endured the wrath of God on thy behalf.

See you, yonder crucified Man on Calvary, and mark thee that those drops of blood are falling for thee,

those nailed hands are pierced for thee, and that opened side contains a heart within it,

full of love to thee.

CH Spurgeon

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, Thou wilt not despise.

Psalm 51:17

He amazes me how He breaks everything that is given to Him. The harder we run the weaker we become the more lost we seem to be. It is then He opens our eyes and we begin to see. He was always there.

Sea Glass

I thought about the piece of glass
I found while walking by the sea
I thought about this piece of glass
How it was like me

Trials and tribulation
All the things this life
Has thrown at me
Is the sand that You used
To Shape my life
Like the glass in the sea.

The Ocean is like Your hand
Like the glass I could not get free
Until the edges that were sharp
Were smooth as can be.

As the glass tumbled in the sand
My life it tumbled in Your hand
Your work will not be through

Until the day
You look at this
Piece of Glass
All You see
is
You
