Now the Lord spoke to Paul in the night by a vision, "Do not be afraid, but speak, and do not keep silent; "for I am with you, and no one will attack you to hurt you; for I have many people in this city." Acts 18:9-10 NKJV

Ever feel like you’re surrounded by troubled, troublesome people? In less charitable moments, you might say “lunatics.”

Well, you are—that’s the nature of our fallen world. But never think you’re totally alone. Of course, Jesus promised, “Surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:20). But He has also placed flesh-and-blood fellow believers in strategic places to help you on your way to heaven.

Remember Elijah? After defeating Baal’s prophets at Mount Carmel, his life was threatened by the evil Jezebel. Suddenly terrified, he complained that he was the last remaining God worshipper. But the Lord told Elijah, “I reserve seven thousand in Israel—all whose knees have not bowed down to Baal” (1 Kings 19:18).

The apostle Paul referenced that story in his letter to the Romans (11:1-5). And Paul received a similar encouragement from God while facing harassment in Corinth: “I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city.”

God has many people, everywhere, available to encourage you. Keep an eye out—you’re surrounded!

Prayer: Lord, please send a fellow believer my way today---or vice versa.
