And he said, Do not be frightened, Paul! It is necessary for you to stand before Caesar; and behold, God has given you all those who are sailing with you. Acts 27:24 AMPC
The three dots following today’s title are “suspension points.” They indicate a thought that trails off. “You are invincible” is a nice idea, but it’s not complete unless you add, “until God says your life is over.”
In Acts 27, Paul is a prisoner on a ship bound for Rome. There, he is supposed to present his case (and the gospel) to the emperor. But those plans are imperiled by a ferocious, two-week storm with the monstrous name Euroclydon in the Old King James Version.
Fellow missionary Luke recalled, “When neither sun nor stars were visible for many days and no small tempest kept raging about us, all hope of our being saved was finally abandoned” (Acts 27:20).
Well, that was true for 275 of the passengers and crew. Number 276 was Paul, who received a visit from an angel bearing the message of today’s scripture. God had an assignment for Paul, and no storm on earth could stop him.
That’s true of us too. We have no need to fear terrorism, pandemics, crime, nuclear war, or disease. As Christians, we are invincible…until God determines we’re done. And don’t fear that day either—then you’ll simply enjoy His presence in heaven.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for protection and provision. Please banish my fears.
