Many times I have thought about the many different kinds of Bibles there are out there. I have never had a problem with that but wonder how many other people do? To Me there is NO Bible other then the King James Version. How many are being decieved by other Bibles. I admit I had to ask Jesus to give me understanding when I started to read with that Bible. But I could tell you anything you wanted to know about Sin tho. It is Gods Holy Word. It is not like any other book a sinner or christian can just pick up and read. God does not want the sinner to understand his Holy Word. People want things instantly now. So many bibles are wrote to be understood easier but how much changing His word does it take to be no longer His Holy Word? Here is some scripture on what He said about it.

LUKE 4,
4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God _________ EVERY Word Of God

MATTHEW 5
18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one JOT or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

The law is Gods Word.

The following table lists 300 verses that have been changed in the seven most popular versions.

THE SEVEN MOST POPULAR VERSIONS
NI New International Version, NAS New American Standard Version
NKJ New King James Version, RS Revised Standard Version
NRS New Revised Standard Version
,LB The Living Bible and now there is a new one called THE MESSAGE

Many will be decieved.

Hello Don, I am a Don(ald) too. Just a quick reply to your thread. Fantastic! Quick enough? It is good to know that there are still some out there that will not compromise. I have been reading a book by G.A. Riplinger called NEW AGE BIBLE VERSIONS. This book is a very important must for those who treasure Gods Word and who can identify with the Psalmist in Psalm 119. The book is very hard to get here (I have been told it is banned) I do not know if you will be able to get it where you are. You will be amazed how these new versions are twisting the Word of God to suit their cause - the New Age! In these times when they do not want to have conflict within religion or elsewhere for that matter they have taken the Word of God and perverted it very inconspicuously. They want a one world religion under a one world leader the Antichrist! Alterning Gods Word to help bring this about is only one way in order to achieve this. The average Christian cannot descern unless the Lord opens their eyes to the truth. I have known for some time that there were changes to the original text but always put it off because these versions are easier to read in simple english. However I can really praise the Lord that He brought someone along my path that handed me this book and since then I have gone straight back to the Old King James Version which is the Authorised Version. It seems that the New American Standard Bible (NASB) is the most altered.

It is very important that the Word of God be taught correctly and without compromise. The whole Word of God must be taught in order to be able to fulfil the Words of our Saviour .... Go teach the nations ..... How will they see their error and how will those in Christ be trulely sanctified by the Word if it is not taught correctly or if it has been altered. 1 Cor 4:1-2 is very impotant since it says that we have been been entrusted with the very words of God and as stewards of the Word we must be found to be faithful. Jesus is the Word (Jn 1:1) by altering it they are nullifying the finished work on the cross - reconcilliation with God and ultimate salvation. We must not hold back the punch, if I can use that term, the Word of God when spoken must return to God with that which it was intended, to bring in lost souls. Confronting the religious will see us being persecuted by so called Christian Faiths just as Cain killed Abel they will want to put those who look to Jesus Christ as the only way to salvation and to God in jail, attempt to discredit them, attempt to pull the wool over their eyes and even kill them. Cain was Abels brother yet he was the tare and Abel the wheat. They are no different today - Satan has not changed his ways he may have camoflaged his intentions by becoming an angel of light but we can rejoice because Jesus said he lost non that His Father had given Him!

To end off, in Exodus 12 we read that God, through Moses, said that the Israelites were to take a lamb that was without blemish and kill it in the evening, they were to take the blood and strike it to the two side posts and on the upper door post. Then they were to eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire and unleavened bread. Since this points to Jesus Christ and His flesh to the Word of God, that which we teach from the Word of God must be without blemish too! The fire represents the judgement. It is interesting to note that this was in the first month and the beginning of months which actually points to the fact that anyone who is reconciled with God through the Blood of Jesus Christ is a new creation, a brand new man ... the beginning of a new life in His righteousness.

With that, thank you for your input in this thread, because it is of utmost importance that we make sure that people are aware of what is happening

As a christian for 34 years I have been reading the New King James Version for the past 3 years, and I get a lot from it. However, I would not say I'm being deceived. The Holy Spirit speaks to me plenty from it. It is still God's Word, and if you know me, you will know I stand for no compromise, if God says it, I believe it, that's it.

kjv all the way for me people.
i know there are a lot of people here who read different versions but it's not for me and this is my choice.
people can take anything and twist it to say what they want.....
like this group of people who drank there own urine because of this scripture.

Jhn 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

or how about the mormans who feel they will become as God in a since that they will be able to create there own worlds ...now they read the kjv but there book of mormans is what they study, and as hard as i tried to show my morman coworker
he was wrong by reading it he was stead fast in his beliefs becaused he was raised in it from birth.

Have we really compared different versions to see how they line up with each other?
Have we read the missing scriptures from the different versions and wondered why they are unimportant?(that they didn't need to be included in the Bible)
Or why some Translations have different meaning?

I used to be KJV only...until I did some actual research and study on the history of "The Bible" ;)

I too have done a bit of research and have found the same problem with the KJV, especially with adding to.

There are many translations and the King James does not hold the authority/corner/market on translations, nor is it the complete and 100% word of God like many claim. The original transcripts are the Only 100% accurate without error. Translating form the original language into English accurately 100% is humanly impossible, but the Spirit can use allot of the translations to impart truth to the People of God. Plus if one English translation was the only accurate one what happens to the other 5+ Billion people who do not read or know english, what are they to do?

All translation are going to have inaccuracies. Are some better/worse than others yes. If we find and are led by the Holy spirit that a particular translation compromises the word then by all means do not use it. The Spirit Knows our heart and what translation(s) He can work with us to impart the truth.

If we all knew Hebrew , Aramaic, and Greek we could go to the transcripts that are available and compare them., but since that is not an option for the most of us we must rely on the Holy Spirit of the Living God(which is better by far, we should rely on God not man!) to impart wisdom knowledge, understanding and interpretation for the Holy Spirit is the one whom inspired the texts of our Holy Bible and only He knows and can impart the complete untarnished word of God.

The Word of God cannot be broken!! no matter what "man" tries and does with his translations.

To God be the Glory Forever Amen!
John.

I would never lead anyone wrong about the word of God. I was just wondering why so many Versions. Jesus said NOT ONE JOT shall change. I just figured the KJV had to be the right one as many as are tring to change it. It was the Bible my Mom & Dad used and it was the one their parents used. Now it just seems like a Bible explosion. The true 1611 original King James Version stood good for over 400 years. I just don't know how much the Bible could be altered and still be the word of GOD. I would never tell anyone 1 thing to make one stumble. No way I don't want Jesus MAD at me. Im not going to mess with HIS word.

I believe the Holy Spirit convicts and makes His Living Word come alive in a person's heart. Where does it begin? The believer must be a sincere genuine believer WITH an open heart to GOD to receive His Word alive in him, to receive wisdom. From thereon if GOD sees the person reading a version of the Bible that is far from His own (mormon for example) I believe strongly that the Holy Spirit will convict that believer to drop that book (version) and lead him/her to another version of the Bible.

I have been saved nearly four years and over the course of this time have read ESV, NIV, NKJV and CEV. I just go my NKJV and I love it. It is a study Bible and I do feel led by the Holy Spirit in all I read. Is it perfect? Which version of the Bible IS perfect? I don't even bible the originals were perfect (althgouth they are FIRST SOURCE direct breathed Word of GOD). Why do I think they are not perfect? As they are 100% Holy Spirit inspired by GOD, they were still passed onto humans, imperfect humans. We are all imperfect so will any translation or anything we do FOR GOD ever be perfect?

Let the Holy Spirit convict. Just open your heart and ask for wisdom, never stop asking.

I did not mean to imply you are wrong in using the KJV, I too read the KJV amongst other translations and compare them. The reasoning for so many translations is that there have been advancements in translating, that is why the KJV was updated as well, the one most read today in not the AV 1611. There before that one was the Geneva Bible.

Another reason is that translators are trying to make the word more accessible to people and updating the language, unfortunately at times things can be lost. But on the other hand many things have been rendered more accurately in english than ever before. That is one of the reasons I read the ESV.

See the English language is one of the hardest to translate to, for in the original languages there are words that do not translate at all for there is no word for them in English, and some that no one knows what the meaning of a word is therefore noway to translate it with accuracy(hence how some things are lost).

That is why I believe the only complete accurate text of the Bible is the original transcripts. Like in the Gospels,The Lord Jesus promised the Holy Spirit to come and the then Disciples who became the Apostles would receive the word and be reminded of all the things Jesus spoke when He was here by way of the Holy Spirit, because no man would be able to remember so accurately the words of Christ, so the Spirit came and gave the word to them and they wrote it down accurately.

That is not to say that the Bible(s) we read and study today are not accurate, for the transcripts they use for translating are as close to the original as you can get. I have read many versions and they agree with one another except a few, but the Gospel message is clear and it will never be changed because God's word will not be broken. Like Jesus who is the same yesterday, today and forever, the Gospel will remain.

Peace be with you,
Your Brother in Christ,
John.

Invitation of the Holy Spirit.

Before we open up God's Word, we need to first seek understanding and wisdom of the holy spirit. If we dont do this first, no matter what bible we read, it will be just words.
