New here, need reassurance!

Hello all. My name is Rose. I didn't go to church for a long time, and yesterday started going again. I plan to continue going to church forever. My problem is that I am somewhat confused.
I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior back in 1998. How do I renew my faith? How do I find my way back?
And, how will I know if I get a calling? My best friend Samantha, who I will be going to church with, knows her calling. I believe it is to work with Special Needs children and to move to Peru in two years.
I want to know what my purpose is.

Welcome to TJ, Rose. Your salvation was never annulled. Study the story of the Prodigal Son (Lk 15:11-24) and insert yourself into the story as the prodigal. That will tell you how God feels about you and your status in His eyes.

And, how will I know if I get a calling? My best friend Samantha, who I will be going to church with, knows her calling......I want to know what my purpose is.

Along with His other perfections, God is perfectly efficient. He uses EVERY willing worker. Try to avoid comparing yourself to Samantha. Each of us grows and progresses spiritually at a different pace than others. God revealed Samanthata's call to her when the time was right. He'll reveal your call to you when the time is right. "You're a work in progress," says the Lord, "and you're right on schedule!"

Thanks for responding, SLE. You're right, I shouldn't compare myself to others. My journey is my own, isn't it? Maybe I'm being impatient. I just feel like I have been sitting around doing nothing far too long. I will read what you linked.
