Should prayer be instant?

Umm.. No.. Elijah waited 3 years... stopped the sun...
I can give many more examples... Like Danial, and the answer was sent, but held up by Evil Spirits... or the Prince of Persia..
Isa 65:24 And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.
God hears pray of request the first time... No need to keep bugging God about it again.... The answer is on the way.....

Violation of Principles will stop prayer.. We are to be obedient to God's Word, and What God said concerning prayer. If we want to do it our way, then we can not to get the results we would like...
Jesus said.. "Believe that your receive" This certainly means that Jesus did not expect everyone of our prayers to just show up on our door step the next morning...
How can we do that??
Someone that believes it's already taken care of speaks as if it is on they way.. They call those things that be not, as though they were.. Someone that does not believe they have received will keep asking for it...
You can tell what you believe by what comes out of your mouth.. It's out of the abundance of your heart, where words come from.
for example: I am getting paid this Friday..........The money is on the way...

Example: You Pray...... Lord I ask that you heal me... Your word says by his stripes I am healed, and I receive what you said about me...
10 days latter after a bad doctor report...............
Your talking with a neighbor.... "Ya, I just got the report today from the doctor, it sure don't look good...I don't know what my family will do if I don't make it.."
That is taking two sides...... Ping ponging back and fourth with your mouth and actions is a sure way not to get your prayer answered...
Jas 1:6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
Jas 1:7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
Jas 1:8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
Pray according to the Will of God
We are told that if we pray according to God's Will that he will hear us, and that our petition is on the way..... That is awesome!!!!
This is one thing that can help us know that we believe that we receive... If it's God's Will, then that is something we can believe in.
1Jn 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
1Jn 5:15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
Praying "If it by thy will" prayers is a good indication that your clueless about the will of God.... People try to copy the prayer of Jesus in the Garden........ "Father, I know all things are possible to you, if it by thy will, remove this cup from me.. nevertheless, not my will be done, but yours.."
Jesus was not confused on the will of God here, and praying this way really takes the scripture out of context if you don't know the will of God on something.... If you need wisdom for direction, then ask... and the Lord will show you what to do.... (James 1:5)
Praying Lord if it by thy will, please heal me..... is normally going to end up in results you don't want. You better get settled on what his will concerning Healing is...
If it is concerning something expensive and time consuming (Like a big fishing boat) then a prayer..... seeking the Lord on this would be appropriate.. God is not hung up on giving us things, but He is hung up on Things removing us from what he would have us do...
Cease Not prayers
We have many examples of Cease not prayers..... These prayers always encompassed praying for others and the Children of God.... It is a ongoing prayer as people's situations constantly change....
There is much more to learn on this subject.... Like your love walk, walking in obedience, Keeping The Word...

By brain prayers do you mean silent or thought prayers?The kingdom of God is within us.
There are so many types of prayer that some of them may not have an open or a close.
Are you referring specifically to requests?

Quenton, where do you see the Bible saying that answered prayer is always instant? The parable of the Unjust Judge (Lk 18:1-8) tells us to pray persistently and when God acts, He will act quickly, but that doesn't mean He will answer our prayers right away.

Paraphrase: Men should pray about the situation, instead of being in despair and fainting. Always pray, not faint.

The word is (LEST)........... how was that word used??
Did the women keep Bothering the judge day after day?
Are we suppose to bother God day after day over the same thing??
LEST is always used as another possible outcome, it does not denote the same thing happening over and over.....
Example:
Move that glass of water, lest it get knocked over............
You better pay the power, lest it gets shut off.......
Pay off that bill collector, Lest he keeps coming back..
That women was troublesome, and I better grant her what she wants, Lest she keeps coming back to trouble me.

The whole key to this is not fainting, be bold, and pray instead.... This does not denote constant begging to God.... It is a strong and bold position, it is a position of faith....

I think it can mean:what are brain prayers?.....that answer is in itself
#1 praying out loud from logic and ritual.
#2 silent praying from logic and ritual.
#3 praying in your head in the Spirit of love.
#4 something I have not considered.
I am still awaiting your clarification on this.

When you speak of the brain do you think your praying out loud? my brain doesn't speak out loud tell i open my mouth

Give me a verse where Christ asked persistently
Christ's prayer in the garden of Gethsemane is a perfect example of persistent prayer. It can be found in Matthew 26:36-45, and in Luke 22:39.
I love this passage because I believe it really shows a level of "human-ness" to Jesus that isn't seen anywhere else. He prays fervently, persistently, and continually.
He asks that God would take the cup away from Him, He doesn't want to endure the suffering to come, and we know that this prayer isn't answered "yes", it also isn't answered instantly as we know He endured many hours of pain. But the thing I like most about this passage is that we see, through Christ's 3 different prayers, His will being conformed to God's. First Christ prays to have the cup taken from Him, but by the end He's accepted that it won't pass from Him and is willing to follow God. He doesn't "get what He wants", but He does get what God wants in time, with prayer.
There are countless times in the Bible that show persistence in prayer, years and years and years of prayer, so its no different than today's world... God is still the same. (One of my favorite prayers in the Bible is the prayer of Hannah... she prayed many many years before the Lord blessed her with Samuel). There are prayers today that He answers instantly, and then some that He holds off.
And yes, any and every type of prayer is answered... "brain" prayers, silent prayers, kneeling prayers, etc.

You still have not explained what "instant prayer" means.
Careful instruction means to take some care in trying to communicate your question or instruction.It means being willing to explain what you mean.
Can you explain what you mean by "instant prayer"?
We can listen to the Spirit and pray in the Spirit out loud or silently.
We can listen to our brain and pray with logic out loud or silently.
I like this scripture as well...however I cant decide if I do think it is a time passage or not. Because really moments after he prayed this he was arrested so to me that is instant
instant prayer is a prayer that happens as soon as your faith is released no waiting days or months or years it's by the next few moments
the first person to show my brain prayer(silent prayer) scripture as i can't think of any and i would really like to see one is doing a good job

Now I understand,thanks for clearing that up.
Jesus walked in the fullness of the Holy Spirit,he fully knew God's will and everything he commanded and prayed was in the Father's perfect will.
John 17:20 My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message.
This prayer was heard and I have to assume was answered. but the results of the prayer are ongoing.
John 17:8 For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me.
As far as I can see Jesus spoke this in faith because they really didn't believe him yet.That's why the apostles were upset when his grave was found empty and they logically thought someone had stolen his body.

All i know is that prayer rocks, always being ready to converse with God is such a blessing ;0)
