Yes, i think you might be right, Hekuran
@Hekuran
reminds me of 'many are called but few are chosen'
It could 'almost' read, 'many are called but few choose to hearken'[or, to choose this day, etc.]
Some may say that is works but in reality, if the phone rings and do do answer it, is that 'works'?
Back in the day and perhaps even now, the religious sort [scribes, lawyers, Pharisees, High Priests and the Council' would have had issue with it, if it was done on the Sabbath. As with people getting healed. Not at all interested in someone being set free.. but very upset that Jesus had done 'work'. I shake my head at that. Even the accounts given, you'd be hard pressed to call what actually was done as 'work'.
So. yes.
If we eliminate the works side, we might see that Jesus has called, The Father has drawn someone.... "He is the 'Worker'.... and Jesus might be heard to say, "Come, follow Me". So, if someone obeys that call... it is Him Who they will be following.
Will He then refuse to give that which He has promised to those who obey Him? No.
In fairness, though, I think Brad
@Brad Huber was suggesting that there appear some who say they are Christian and even believe [who are we to judge?] and yet there seems something lacking? Question is, as pertaining to the said verse, have they obeyed regarding the 'baptism' of the Holy Ghost? Is that why they are seemingly 'lacking' in their 'walk'?
I would not suggest that should be the 'judgement' passed, if we see someone who doesn't quite seem to line up to what we think is 'Spirit filled'. We all need to watch our own steps. Often, when we use the same microscope on ourselves, we see similar, if not the same or 'worse' contradictions and what can only be summed up as dis-obedience.
Another good reason the Lord would have us fellowship; that we may build one another up in the most holy faith.
Bless you ....><>
