Then again, should one speculate with "Simple reasoning"? Or does that cause more problems?
Isaiah 1:18 "Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord:.................. I have no problem with reasoning as the Lord has said we should reason together. All is not written, but enough
that we can make conclusions about certain problematic issues.
In my original response to Dave M I was offering a possibility as to what Jesus was referring to. For me The Father Is the God of Jesus, just as He is to Paul, Peter, David, you and I.
I offer:
John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know THEE THE ONLY TRUE GOD, and Jesus Christ, whom THOU HAST SENT. Red letters
We see that Jesus Himself refers to the Father as the ONLY TRUE GOD, and that God had sent Him. Thus Jesus was not the true God. He is and was as He said "The Son of God."
John 10:36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God.
So which is it? " I am" meaning Jesus was God. Or the Son who was not nor ever can be the the only TRUE GOD?
Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,.............
1Pe 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ..........................
Mark 12:36 For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The LORD said to my Lord, sit thou on my right hand, till I(God) make thine(your) enemies thy footstool.
Psalms 110:1
In each case above it is made extremely clear that Paul, Peter, David and Jesus know that God is the God and Father of Jesus . Thus the I am we are discussing cannot be
proof that Jesus was saying He was the only true God in a parable.
