Can One Pray in the Spirit Without Speaking in Tongues?

Jude 1:17 But YE beloved, remember the words spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;
18 that they said to you, In the last time mockers shall be, walking after their own ungodly lusts.
19 These are they who make separations, having only soul, not having Spirit.
20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,
21 keep yourselves in God’s love, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

So those without the Spirit cannot pray in the Spirit - so what is the difference then?
Those who can only pray in their natural tongue versus those who can pray in a spiritual tongue that is God given.

Acts 19:2 and he said unto them, Whether ye received the Holy Spirit when ye believed? And they said unto him, Nay, we did not so much as hear whether there is a Holy Spirit.
3 And he said, Into what then were ye baptized? And they said, Into the baptism of John.
4 And Paul said, John baptized a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe unto him that should come after him, that is, unto Jesus.
5 And when they heard this, they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus.
6 And when Paul had laid hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

Its fact. If those back then walked up to people they did not know and started speaking mumbo jumbo-those would have ran away thinking they were absolutely insane. Not something the real Jesus would have them do. It was foreign language they were speaking. One must believe in the real Jesus otherwise they get nothing. The real Jesus who teaches everyone he has a God( John 20:17, Rev 3;12)-- so its the adversary who provides for those with a fake Jesus.
Huh?!

The only ones who get holy spirit-live their lives to obey Jesus. None who practice a sin is obeying Jesus. John spoke of the real Jesus. not the fake one.

to one with out understanding of the bible you are correct. The bible sin doers belong to satan. read 1John 3
Mark 3:28 Amen I say unto you, [that] All things shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, the sins and the blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:
29 but whoso shall blaspheme against the Holy Spirit hath not forgiveness unto the age, but is guilty of an eternal sin:
30 because they were saying, He hath an unclean spirit.

Mark 3:28 Amen I say unto you, [that] All things shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, the sins and the blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:
29 but whoso shall blaspheme against the Holy Spirit hath not forgiveness unto the age, but is guilty of an eternal sin:

repented sin that is talking about-Acts2:22 There is whole bible that must be applied.

The one's who have eternal sin and Blasphemy the Holy Spirit are Unbelievers!

You need to hold this up to a mirror:

Truth seekers seek the truth and will lay aside their bias in order to find that truth; bias defenders only defend their bias, even when it is wrong.

Actually, I do...every time I sit down to do research on a study. I can tell that you can't say the same.

Complete nonsense and a typical cessationist claim.
Three gifts of the Holy Spirit operate in our Pentecostal church - tongues followed by interpretation and then prophecy.
All done decently and in order according to 1Corinthians 14.
And the gift of tongues is not foreign languages, but akin to speaking in tongues - praying in the Holy Spirit.

Actually, to be more precise, tongues can be either a foreign human language OR the tongues of angels (spiritual language). Scripture affirms both. I have witnessed both on many accounts, having travelled outside the continental US in the military. While I was in Japan one time, during worship, a white, english speaking woman stood up and spoke in tongues. Afterwards, another person gave the interpretation. After the service, I overheard a couple visiting from South Korea walk up to the woman and ask her where she learned perfect Korean, and without any accent yet. She replied that she did not know Korean...needless to say, the Korean couple came back the following week and got saved...

I have also herd what would seem like "nonsense babbling" to an untrained ear, but when it comes to languages, there are patterns...how many times do you repeat "the" in a sentence? You have probably never thought about it. When I hear a tongue and can understand a pattern to it, then I am sure that it is either a human language that I have never heard before, or a spiritual tongue.

Blessings.

The Title Thread is "Can One Pray in the Spirit Without Speaking in Tongues?"

Yep, especially, if that person don't have a have A TONGUE IN HIS MOUTH. or a Voice box. or know how to make sounds. Yes, i think it is possible.
Note:
unless you can speak in "tongues" will hand signs. :eyes:
Now have you learn anything today? :eyes: Just like the smart ones, who had to fly to the moon to find out it is only light. that rules the night.: unamused:

And some people, world wide don't have clean water to drink. or good food. But they can fly to moon and spend more money to see if they can see on the other side of the universe. and look at another light. But they are smart right. They cannot even fly water into the in dry places here on earth. or convert ocean water into drinking water for the thirsty, Jesus is going to put a halt to "gates" Bozo, and all the rest of the "bozo's" the day of the million houses and Bugatti's are coming to a close, and big swing hips Beyonce's and "Bikinis" wear christians are going out of Business, Oh yea, they are going to Protest against the " NEW KING' but little do they know He is going swing That "IRON ROD" because His FATHER told HIM to do it! And he does not have a "WIFE" but many think HE does.:eyes:

You have never seen a King like this One.:eyes: and He ain't going to be kissing babies. Like those "Michelangelo's" you been looking at.:pensive:

What the heck are you talking about? You are in so many nonsense directions that I can't understand your babble...

If I may...it isn't "holy spirit," its; the Holy Spirit. He isn't a thing, He emanates directly from God.

Just saying...

Wrong. According to Scripture, not the false teaching of men, a person cannot blaspheme the Holy Spirit if he has never been saved. Read the account again...Jesus never stated that the Pharisees did it, He was only using the situation to address blasphemy. The Pharisees were not believers, therefore they could not blaspheme the Holy Spirit...they never had the Holy Spirit.

Sorry YOU don't like it but " Blasphemy Of The Holy Spirit" is UNBELIEF!

You either believe and have the Holy Spirit in you as a Gift of God -or- YOU DON'T....THAT IS BIBLICAL!

Unbelievers have rejected Christ AND Blasphemed the Holy Spirit!

LOL...what a maroon! Sorry that you don't like it, but there is no Scripture anywhere in the Bible that says the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is unbelief.

Like I said before, and you obviously ignored it: precious nothing of truth comes out of calvinism, and that nonsense you espouse is calvinism.

Apparently you are not as astute in Scripture that you think you are. There is more to having the Holy Spirit dwelling within you than simply believing (which is more false calvinistic nonsense)...

Acts 5:32
And we are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God gives to those who are walking in obedience to Him.

Since you have issues with understanding Scripture, it is probable that you can't obey because you don't know what to obey...er-go part of your problem.

Unbelievers have rejected Christ AND Blasphemed the Holy Spirit!

You are in error on both counts: just because someone does not believe does NOT mean that they rejected Christ...more nonsense calvinistic trash. Furthermore, according to Scripture (again)...not the false teachings of the fiends you evidently listen to, only a person who has been saved can blaspheme the Spirit; familiarize yourself with Hebrews 10:26-29...or keep living in darkness, the choice is yours.
