John 1:1 does not say the Word was a god...It says He was GodTranslators could have saved a lot of confusion if they just wrote the word was a god like it should be. You know, the whole definite article thing.

Tell God that. When you capitalize the word, its a particular god. In this case its the God of all godsThe word God is a title.
That's what we do. But think about what you wrote, "the God of all gods", That proves my point. Think about Hinduism. They too would capitalize the word God when referring to their ultimate God. But they aren't referring to the God of Isreal.Tell God that. When you capitalize the word, its a particular god. In this case its the God of all gods
I guess I shouldn't feel this way but I do get tired of explaining this to everyone. Maybe people really don't know about it so here goes. I don't know if you know that there is a definite article (the) in Greek but not an indefinite article (a). Because of this if you are talking about the God Jehovah you would use the definite article before God and if you are talking about a god you would leave it out as John did in John 1:1 when he said the word was (no definite article) god. Of the 5 times in verse that he mentioned "god" or "word" the only place he left it out was when he said the word as (no def. art.) god.John 1:1 does not say the Word was a god...It says He was God
Ok So if it bothers you call God by His name....and the Hindu god is not the God of all gods...he's just an impostorThat's what we do. Hmm I don't know if you know....I read the KJV, and one or two other versions of the bible....I don't care about the Greek....The Word was/is God Until the Word teaches me differentI guess I shouldn't feel this way but I do get tired of explaining this to everyone. Anytime that the definite article is used before Theos this is speaking about "the God" Jehovah, the almighty God and true God. If the definite article is not before Theos then it would most likely be a god" as Strong's says. Such as Acts 12:22; 28:3-6 "It is a god speaking." “He is a god.” Looks like it is in harmony with both Greek grammar and Bible teaching to speak of the Word as, not God, but “a god" as in John 1:1.
The point is that the word god is a title. Just because someone says god, it doesn't necessitate that they are referring to the God of Israel. This is one reason so many get confused about John 1:1. They conflate the title God with the person of (God) the Father.Ok So if it bothers you call God by His name....and the Hindu god is not the God of all gods...he's just an impostor
"I don't care about the Greek". Well my friend, that subjects you to the thoughts of others.Hmm I don't know if you know....I read the KJV, and one or two other versions of the bible....I don't care about the Greek....The Word was/is God Until the Word teaches me different
Bereshis (in the Beginning) was the Dvar Hashem [YESHAYAH 55:11; BERESHIS 1:3], and the Dvar Hashem was agav (along with, etzel, Mishle 8:30;30:4) Hashem, and the Dvar Hashem was nothing less, by nature, than Elohim! [Psa 56:11(10); Yn 17:5; Rev. 19:13 i.e., the Ma’amar Memra]
But John said the word "was" God. He didn't say the word "is" God. Why did John use the past tense if the Word "is" (present tense) God?John 1:1 does not say the Word was a god...It says He was God

You don't care about the Greek and you use the KJV. Too bad.Hmm I don't know if you know....I read the KJV, and one or two other versions of the bible....I don't care about the Greek....The Word was/is God Until the Word teaches me different

God or the Word?Does God quit being God after a period of time?
That's ok....The Lord promised me fifty years ago that He would be my teacher...and He has been faithful to that promiseYou don't care about the Greek and you use the KJV. Too bad.
I've known a lot of people that told me the Lord told me this or that but I don't think it works our 95% if the time if ever, so it turns out they are fooling themselves. But good luck with that anyway. That's ok....The Lord promised me fifty years ago that He would be my teacher...and He has been faithful to that promise
John 14:26I've known a lot of people that told me the Lord told me this or that but I don't think it works our 95% if the time if ever, so it turns out they are fooling themselves. But good luck with that anyway.
It could be argued that the gospel preached today is another gospel. The Jehova Witness preaches "another Jesus" that is not the Jesus of the Bible. The Apostle Paul warned the Church about such people.
2Co 11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
2Co 11:4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.
2Co 11:13 These people are false apostles. They are deceitful workers who disguise themselves as apostles of Christ.
2Co 11:14 But I am not surprised! Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.
2Co 11:15 So it is no wonder that his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. In the end they will get the punishment their wicked deeds deserve.
They preach/teach a different Gospel, having a different spirit, and a false counterfeit Jesus!
God or the Word?
