Romans 16:17-18
*"Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple."* (NKJV)

Paul is cautioning believers to stay alert and avoid individuals who create discord and stray from the true teachings of Christ. He emphasizes the deceptive power of flattery and self-serving motives. It's a strong call to maintain unity and truth within the faith.

2 Timothy 2:24-26 - Correcting them.
In 2 Timothy 2:24-26, the Apostle Paul instructs Timothy, a young leader in the church:
"And the servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will." (NKJV)
Paul emphasizes qualities like kindness, patience, and humility for those serving God. He also highlights the hope for repentance and freedom from spiritual deception through God’s grace. It’s a powerful reminder to approach conflicts with love and a desire to restore others to truth.

2 John 1:9-11
"Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him; for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds." (NKJV)
This passage serves as a warning to remain faithful to the teachings of Christ and to be cautious about associating with those who actively oppose or distort those teachings. It's a call to discernment and upholding truth while being mindful of the influence of others.

If you have any of these on a list and you regularly listen do, you should get rid of them.

Thanks for the sharing the list. Do you think that you may be being too critical?

Before you respond, listen to me for a moment.

So I'm not stating that all of those individuals have 100% of their theology correct in their stance
and their endorsements, however consider the following.

Imagine you started creating worship music (YOU). And you begin to publish music, and someone comes on TALKJESUS and reviews your posts to see what your theology is. Now if anyone were to review 100% of your post it is clear that not all of your positions are endorsed by everyone on TJ.

However does that mean that if you were creating Christian music, we should tell others not to buy your music because you are wrong on some of your endorsements?

Once again, I'm not saying you are wrong in your list ( I reviewed some, not all), however I'm focusing more on your mindset because using that same logic we can look at some of the Great Hymn writers and say don't listen to "Amazing Grace" because John Newton the writer once owned enslaved Africans. Or don't listen to "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God" because Martin Luther had some anti-semitic views. Or don't listen to Charles Wesley's hymn, "Hark the Herald Angels Sing", because of his clashes in his theology regarding Methodist and Calvinists.

I do have some Christian artist that I don't listen to, but it is more based on their actually work (words of their songs), not because they are not flawless; because God uses many flawed individuals, we all are reminded of that every time we read the Bible.

No.
For too long we've been told to keep unrepentant sinners and false teachers "around" with hopes they'll change.
If you or any Christian can't discern the difference then you need to learn better.
Do you have the time and money to go and personally confront these people? No.
Some here have reasons behind why they are to be avoided: For supporting blaspmous "Christians" and then have the ignorant belief to call themselve such.
No Christian can support LGB+. So much they're to not be allowed in one's home or church.
Jesus drove people out with a whip and flipping over tables so that is an option.

All of these people listed and then some, don't really care about being a Christian. Actions/fruits show what they are.

Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. (Mat. 7:16-20)

(8-12) The passing from darkness to light.

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.

For many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not confess Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son.

There's a lot of unhappy face TLDRs so I'll plop this here... There's an online Christian music app that I rather like. What I don't like is going to the musicians' own online profiles and not seeing a declaration of Christianity of any sort. That being said, Saul of Tarsus... casting stones... and the Holy Spirit gift of discernment. God bless us all.

That is how I am with social media. I don’t follow anyone who has no declaration of Christianity. Also, on X, I remove followers who don’t declare themselves as Christians or if they have a bunch of anti Christian material on their profiles and or posts.

We get soul tied (I believe) to people we follow and to people who follow us. Same thing with friendships and relationships.

Get point to be emphasized with soul ties, I echo that as well. Well said.

I agree also with you generally about not following people who are not Christian,
although it is possible to take it to the extreme whereby there might be situations where following someone
who is not a Christian may be appropriate, but generally speaking, what you said is a great rule of thumb.

In terms of the exceptions ( and it may depend on the Christian and their spiritual walk and purpose and assignment )
for example, I follow a friend on FB who has a health blog where he talks about fitness and nutrition. I don't think he is a Christian
but I follow simply to encourage him in his work. I have others I encourage in various ways online who call themselves Christians but personally
I don't know if I'll see them in heaven.

I think ultimately we know that in the end the only person we really should be following is Jesus, but there are believers who are strong
in their faith who can point us to Christ, encourage us, and even hold us accountable. Yet in a few cases where the content isn't necessarily teaching doctrine such as a fitness blog, or an auto-mechanic page, or a professional page, or a family page, etc, it may not be a problem to "follow" such individuals if we find that their content is not "anti Christian".

I agree with that. I think there are some non Christians that God has us to look after because God has purpose for us to influence them in a way, that will ultimately lead them to accepting Jesus as lord and savior. For example, I don’t follow these people but we are friends on Facebook and Instagram. I believe God placed those people in my life, in order for me to influence them in a God serving direction. They both have recently reached out to me, so it seems like they are interested in what Jesus is all about.

The moment I read your reply, I just came from X. I can see how I can be a little extreme but also, I get a little extreme when a radio station wants to promote my music but they are also promoting songs that promote marijuana usage. I told them I will not follow them and I will remove them from my list of followers if they follow me.

I had around 50 followers yesterday but removed all of the ones that I believed were bots, heavily political, or had anti- Christian material on their page.

Now I have 12 followers lol like 12 disciples.

If my followers aren’t doing the three things that Jesus spoke of for his disciples to do while on earth, they aren’t my followers and will be removed.

A majority of "Christian" music makers only seek to "tickle the ear" and make lots of money.
A lot of people in that genre do NOT have talent. If you know how, you can put one of their songs into certain programs.
See their actual vocal range (if any) and ability to sing.
You can find out if others did 99% of the work.
Bethel is one of many un-Godly "churches" yet people refuse to stop listening to their music.

Brandon Lake is listed in the top of "Christian" artists yet supports and aligns with False teachers.
The fact he has NOT be outed shows how weak the Christian church is. It shows how "narrow is the way and few will find it."
There'll be NO excuse when God's judgement comes down on those who support false teachers.

I think the who music/entertainment industry is a business filled with much temptation.

I believe that we all know that the primary purpose of the music/entertainment industry is to make money. That goal (making money) is difficult to align with the goal of creating worship music because sometimes what is good worship music may not always make money.

So the very fact of being in that industry is challenging from the start.

With that said, I think a few may be called to shine the light, because we all have our jobs, business owners, teachers, lawyers, doctors, etc where we also are trying to make money, yet we are to still live by godly principles and give God glory.

So I think we are to worship God in whatever our vocation is, yet, the music/entertainment industry does have many many many temptations which are often stronger than other professions.

Let's all be realistic.
Doing something for "free" is going to cost time and labor even when a lot of money isn't needed.
People have minimal needs: Self. Rent/mortgage, bills, water, food, electricity, etc.
There is a line, IMO.
What qualifies as "good, Bible accurate Christian music" is rare.
God gave us imagineations, creativity, and talents right?
No Christian can make Christian music if they support false teachers and the music is so neutered there's barely any mention of God/Jesus, praise, and worship.
There's a problem with the SAME, OVERUSED words in almost every song.
Autotune as allowed people with medicre at best singing skills to become "artists/singers/musicians" with far less effort.

I actually interviewed a former professional Musician (now Christian Musician) earlier this year on my podcast (Christian Conversations) regarding this topic. This is what she had to say.

This is the musician (this is a picture of her on the worship team in church, after her music career in Nashville TN)
