What does the Bible say about purgatory?

I take it you did not read my post # 6.

I take it you did not read my post # 11.

Medic, you need to pray that someone never judges you wrongfully like you do Catholics.

You have a hatred for Catholics and consistently misrepresent their teaching. That is not a very Christian thing to do.
I don't.
You falsely state I "hate Catholics". I've never met you. You're reading words. God hates a lying tongue.

Jesus Christ never explicitly taught that a place called Purgatory exists, nor did He explicitly declare that believers must undergo purification in Purgatory before entering Heaven.

1. I gave a clear reason for why I said you appear to hate Catholics.
2. Did you not read or not grasp my post # 6 to you?

There is no point discussing with you. You don't read posts.

You remind me of the atheists I engage with. You cherry pick what condemns them while ignoring what exonerates them.

That is not very Christian of you.

Don't care an opinion. "Appear" does not equate anything.
You made an assumption. I did read. Many things the Catholics do are NOT in scripture and were NEVER given by Jesus.

EASY.
Very Chrstian of me to speak against.
Since you can't defend your subjective position then make the absurd claim "No point discussing with you."

If you were well meaning you would respond to post # 6....

Who are you to say anyone is "well meaning" if they do or do NOT reply to any post? You're no authority.

The Bible does not explicitly identify a place called Purgatory or command Christians to undergo purification there after death.

The Bible does not explicitly teach that Mary was conceived without original sin.
Romans 3:23"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"
Luke 1:47"And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour."

The Bible does not explicitly describe Mary's bodily assumption into heaven.

The Bible does not explicitly establish the later Catholic requirement of annual sacramental confession to a priest.

The list goes on and in fact shows "they" made these to have MORE CONTROL of "Catholics".

Do you believe you can lose your salvation? Yes or No?
Do you believe God is just? Yes or No?

If you believe you can lose / shipwreck your salvation and that God is just, you 'have' to believe in Purgatory.

It's a 1 + 1 = 2 sum.

Non-OSAS implies that:

Person A can repent and be used by God to serve Him for 2hrs, after which they receive eternal bliss.

Person B can repent and be used by God to serve Him for 50 years, after which they stumble terribly in year 51 and receive eternal punishment.

That makes God terribly unjust, unless of course person B gets a second chance in Purgatory.

Non-OSAS believers who reject Purgatory hit a brick wall. I have yet to meet one who is not a Catholic and 'deals' with this fact.
Not at all true. Our logic does not confine YHWH's Operational parameters.

Medic - Catholics are evil and push heresy with Purgatory
KingJ - This is why Catholics teach it, it is required if you also believe in non-OSAS.
Medic - Catholics are evil and I am non-OSAS
KingJ - Explain how you can be non-OSAS and still support no such place as Purgatory
Medic - Who are you to question me

KingJ - Nice dancing Medic. You do know you are on a discussion forum?

Scripture is clear that God has revealed His goodness to us and that we can understand His character and dealings with mankind.
  • Psalm 34:8: “O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.”
  • Romans 2:11: “For there is no respect of persons with God.”
  • Deuteronomy 32:4: God is described as just, faithful, righteous and upright in all His ways.
  • Psalm 25:8: “Good and upright is the LORD: therefore will he teach sinners in the way.”
  • Isaiah 1:18: “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD…” God invites people to reason with Him.
  • Romans 1:19–20: God has revealed Himself to mankind through creation. His eternal power and divine nature are clearly seen and understood through the things He has made.
  • 1 John 4:8: “God is love.” His character is revealed to us through His Word.

More assumptions. God hates a lying tongue of which you're doing by that.
Putting words in people's mouth, verbally, typed, or written that are untrue.
That is NOT what I think about Catholics and TWICE you have LIED.

Your merit in this is completely worthless.

You intentionally misrepresent their teaching.

That is called lying. What lie have I told? You don't hate Catholics? Let's have a look at what you said:

Medica said ''There's nothing to support. suggest, or prove this Purgatory.''

False. I gave it to you in post # 6, 7 and 11.

Medic said "extra" then you don't believe Jesus was good or powerful enough to die ONCE. That his salvation needs "help".

False accusation! Explained in post # 11.

Catholics thinks it's ok for women and LGB+ to be priest and such which is NOT approved or commanded by God.
Indulgences?

False and misleading! These are independent Catholic groups and reform movements. Much like you have with Protestant denominations doing exactly the same thing.

Rosary/spell casting?

Misleading! The Catholic Church understands the Rosary as a form of prayer and meditation on the life of Jesus Christ, not as a magical incantation. The Vatican warns against treating the beads as a magical object.

Pagan obelisk in the Vatican grounds?

Misleading! There is a large cross that sits on top of it.

Very LONG problem with priests and underage boys.

Misrepresentation. Catholics teach that Paedophilia is a mortal sin.

There are things about YHWH that we cannot even conceive questions for because although He intercedes in this sphere, He is not contained here, as are we. And then there is question after question that we know not to seek answers to because we must have faith to please God. I love Him for what He has done for me and I know Himk because He pursued me. On the other hand, we are finite and YHWH is infinite. I may never be able to say I know all about Him but I love Him.

Lies, false and misleading accusations.
Yet the pedo problem is highly prevalent in the Catholic "church". There's LGB+ "priests" infect it.

Your point form arguments are not useful, or even able to be responded to
Your obsession with and NEED for people to respond to YOUR subjective statements how you want them (your approved answers only) is problematic.

These doctrines/practices do not have a verse that directly teaches them:

  1. Assumption of Mary
  2. Immaculate Conception
  3. Mary as Queen of Heaven (Catholic sense)
  4. Praying to Mary
  5. Marian apparitions
  6. Papal Infallibility
  7. Universal papal jurisdiction
  8. Pope as supreme head of all Christians
  9. Praying to saints
  10. Veneration of relics
  11. Veneration of statues/images of saints
  12. Patron saints
  13. Purgatory
  14. Indulgences
  15. Treasury of Merit
  16. Seven sacraments as a fixed list
  17. Transubstantiation (the philosophical explanation)
  18. Eucharistic adoration
  19. Corpus Christi processions
  20. Mandatory priestly celibacy
  21. Cardinals
  22. Monastic vows as a special state
  23. Tradition equal in authority to Scripture
  24. Rosary
  25. Scapular devotions
  26. Novenas
  27. Stations of the Cross
  28. Ash Wednesday
  29. Lenten obligations
  30. Holy water as practiced in Catholicism
  31. Devotional medals

Have some biblical basis, but are debated

Catholics and Protestants often disagree on whether these are taught in Scripture:

  1. Confession to a priest (John 20:23 cited)
  2. Confirmation
  3. Holy Orders
  4. Anointing of the Sick (James 5:14–15)
  5. Distinct ordained ministry
  6. Teaching authority of church leaders
  7. Sign of the Cross (practice not commanded, but not contrary to Scripture)
    39–43 overlap with earlier items
In fact, these have been argued over for too long. Why? B/c Catholics are WRONG in all of these.

Whilst this is mostly true, it is also true that God:

A. Blessed us with high intelligence Heb 2:7
B. Gifted us with the knowledge of good and evil Gen 3:22
C. Wants us to judge Him and be thoroughly convinced that He is good and just.

1. Isaiah 1:18
“Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD…”

2. Romans 12:2
“…that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

3. 1 Thessalonians 5:21
“Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.”

4. Acts 17:11
The Bereans examined the Scriptures daily to determine whether Paul's teaching was true.

5. Romans 3:4
“…that thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.”

6. Ezekiel 18:25
“Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal?”

7. Genesis 18:25
“Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?”

8. Psalm 34:8
“O taste and see that the LORD is good…”

9. Psalm 145:17
“The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.”

10. Romans 14:5
“…Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.”

Instead of dealing with my response to your post. IE being exposed as someone extremely biased and hateful to Catholics. Your MO is now to create a rabbit trail by listing all the items AI can find that Protestants may disagree with. Man, if we were having a live debate, you would get shredded. You would probably be kicked out of the discussion at this very moment.

On this new list, which items do you believe misrepresent God and are material matters to discuss?
