1 John chapter 5: verse 7 and the Greek Grammar

It does, but it also says..

John 1:1; In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:14; And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

1Jn 4:1; Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
1Jn 4:2; By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God;
1Jn 4:3; and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world.

Col 2:9; For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form,
Luke 24:39; "See My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself; touch Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have."
Luke 24:40; And when He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet.
Yes agreed
And the OP 1John 5:7 is talking Abt Spirit.
7) For there are three that bear record (in heaven), the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

In heaven...in Spirit.
All praise glory and honor be unto God.

7) For there are three that bear record (in heaven), the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
Except that these words are not in the original Greek - they have been added in much later by some scribe - most likely to uphold RCC teaching on the traditional Trinity doctrine.
The correct writing in Greek concerning these verses is as follows

1John 5:6 This is he that came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and with the blood.
7 And it is the Spirit that witnesseth, because the Spirit is the truth.
8 Because the witnessing ones are three: the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and the three agree in one.
9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: because the witness of God is this that he hath witnessed concerning his Son.

These verses uphold the fundamentals of the gospel of salvation - the blood atoning sacrifice of Christ Jesus, the baptism of water and the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus himself spoke to this when talking with Nicodemus -
John 3:5 Jesus answered, Amen, Amen, I say unto thee, Except one be born of water and Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth unto him perish not, but have eternal life.

Yes...the Spirit
Not by power nor by might, but by my Spirit saith the Lord.

All praise glory and honor be unto God.

1 John 5:8
(AMPC) and there are three witnesses on the earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree [are in unison; their testimony coincides].
(ASV) For there are three who bear witness, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and the three agree in one.
(BSB) the Spirit, the water, and the blood—and these three are in agreement.
(CSB) the Spirit, the water, and the blood — and these three are in agreement.
(ESV) the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three agree.
(GNB) the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and all three give the same testimony.
(GW) the Spirit, the water, and the blood. These three witnesses agree.
(HCSB) the Spirit, the water, and the blood—and these three are in agreement.
(KJV) And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
(MKJV) And there are three that bear witness on the earth: the Spirit, and the water, and the blood; and the three are into the one.
(NAS77) For there are three that bear witness, the Spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.
(NAS95) the Spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.
(NIrV) They are the Holy Spirit, the baptism of Jesus and his death. And the three of them agree.
(NIV) the Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.
(NKJV) And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one.
(NLT) the Spirit, the water, and the blood—and all three agree.

At least 3 Bibles say these three bear witness "on the Earth". But this is not in the Greek manuscripts.
The NIrV doesn't mention the "water" or the "blood" directly, but takes liberty to convert to the baptism and crucifixion of Jesus.
The word "assumed" by the King James, Modern King James, and New King James is...
gē
ghay
Contracted from a primary word; soil; by extension a region, or the solid part or the whole of the terrene globe (including the occupants in each application): - country, earth (-ly), ground, land, world.
which is not in any of the Greek manuscripts.

Some Christian denominations take this to mean baptism in water.. ( Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38; 1 Pet 3:21; )
Baptism in the Spirit.. ( Mark 1:8; Acts 1:5; Acts 11:16; )
Baptism into Christ's death... ( Rom 6:3-4; Gal 3:27; Col 2:12; )

1 John 5:7
(AMPC) So there are three witnesses in heaven: the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit, and these three are One;
(ASV) And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is the truth.
(BSB) For there are three that testify:
(CSB) For there are three that testify:
(ESV) For there are three that testify:
(ESV+) For there are three that testify:
(GNB) There are three witnesses:
(Greek NT) ὅτι τρεῖς εἰσιν οἱ μαρτυροῦντες ἐν τῷ οὐρανῷ, ὁ Πατήρ, ὁ Λόγος και τὸ ῞Αγιον Πνεύμα, καὶ οὗτοι οι τρεῖς ἕν εἰσι·
(GW) There are three witnesses:
(HCSB) For there are three that testify:
(KJV) For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
(MKJV) For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit, and these three are one.
(NAS77) And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is the truth.
(NAS95) For there are three that testify:
(NIrV) There are three that give witness about Jesus.
(NIV) For there are three that testify:
(NKJV) For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.
(NLT) So we have these three witnesses—

Again, the King James variants add "in heaven" ( not in any Greek manuscripts ) and they add the words "Father", "Word", and "Holy Spirit". ( not in the Greek manuscripts )
The NAS77 doesn't mention "three" witnesses, only the Holy Spirit.

Hello there,

In my Bible marginal notes, I am informed that the texts read, 'the Spirit, and the water', and ch., but omit all the words from ' in heaven' to ' in earth' (v. 8) inclusive. The words are not found in any Greek MS. before the sixteenth century. They were first seen in the margin of some Latin copies. Thence they have crept into the text.

Thank you
In Christ Jesus
Chris

Greetings,

forgive my 'late' picking up on this thread. We do not have to continue it if so desired , however, may i ask regarding the above quote from you....

is this actually correct?

If we consider the ransom and redemption and propitiation and sanctification and salvation part of the Christian 'us' , is 'assistance' all that is 'given' ?

Pray all is well for you

Bless you ....><>
Hi Br. Bear, I'm not sure what you're asking.

Ok, life is an abstract noun. "He" is personal pronoun. You said they are not persons but then used a personal pronoun which denotes a person.
He is in me, I am in Him, we go unto the Father. And no1 goes to the Father except through Him.

I am not debating with you.
Have a blessed day.

I'm just trying to figure out how you said they are not persons and then called God He, which is a personal pronoun denoting personhood.

Because the bible does. Uses He all the way through it. Do u not know Him?

Yes it does.
We are neither jew nor Greek, male nor female, bond nor free...we are spirit.
Have a blessed evening.
Paul is talking about people, not the Trinity. We are not spirit. Man is flesh. The Bible states that plainly.
